I haven't seen this here and again, I apologize if this has already been posted (there's been so much on this to keep track of and I was out of town for a few days), but here's more on Fred from the Sunday Sun Times:

Fred Huebner, a Webio morning host, knew Hernandez when they grew up in Cicero. But they went in different directions, and Huebner said he lost track of Hernandez until he was offered the Webio gig.

“I was vaguely aware that David had been in some trouble,” said Huebner, who never found out how bad the trouble was, even though his brothers and sisters kept warning him that Hernandez had problems. Huebner said he signed on with Hernandez and the Webio because he had been let go from WSCR in December and had been without work for several months.

Fred, like George, Chet, Jesse all need jobs. They were out or going to be out of work and North blew smoke up their asses. They were flattered that Hernandez wanted them and was spending big money. They jumped for it and still are the suckers they always were.

I don't blame Mr. Huebner, he was clearly desperate for some sort of job/life validation. A week before webio launched I saw him on Lower Wacker trying to trade a greasy brown bag of cheeseburgers for some crack cocaine. Times is tough.

I don't blame one guy for taking the positions. I would have given any of them credit for being a bit smarter about the whole thing, such as an explanation of how they are paying everyone so muich money, huge startup expenses and where is the income. Even if a loss in the first 2 years is anticipated, which would have been understandable, where is that money coming from? These are basic business questions, that a "Good" Businessman should have asked. Fred, Jessie, Geroge etc are not businessmen, they are radio guys. There is only one guy who professes to be a GREAT Businessman and he didn't do any homework on this one.

Sure he did. the great businessman thought he found a sucker. North sought out Hernandez and thought he found a fool to pay him. Hernandez's scheme would still be working if he didn't hook up with North.

So in an odd sorta way, Hernandez ended up getting exposed becase he partnered with North. At least something good came out of all of this bad...

Yep, but its not in the way Nort thinks. Nort thinks he blew the whistle on DH and that is what caused it all to crumble when in actuality the reason it all fell apart is because DH took all his ponzi money and spent it on a stupid radio station instead of repaying some of his investors. After his investors stopped getting checks every month the feds started getting involved. The webio collapse might've pushed the date up a day or two, but DH was already on his way down.

Wasn't Fred unemployed when he joined this? It's not like he left a job at a major radio network.

I won't argue that these were all radio guys and not business savy individuals (I include myself as a non businessperson) don't they have agents that are questioning these types of issues? Or were they all so small time that it wasn't an issue....or maybe a laywer to look over the contract? Or perhaps, Bebe North was their agents, which might explain a great deal.

Shaer knew something, Fred and his brothers and sisters knew something, stories on Hernandez's crimes appeared in both Chicago papers soon after his Scorehead / party-at Mike's-house / do-a-mortgage-with-Mike days . . .

Mark my words, someday it will come out that North and probably others knew more than they're letting on, too.

There's no way everybody knew except North, Bebe, Rogers and Schwartz.
