I know this topic has been covered many times but, as these things tend to change and the search functions don't work, I'll ask again.

I plan on doing some serious holiday beer drinking this weekend and would like to venture out a bit, perceptually not physically.

As I don't see any possibility of me getting to Wisconsin to pick up some New Glarus Spotted Cow, I'm asking for some suggestions that can be purchased locally and don't be afraid to post descriptions, pictures, prices, etc. I like to make things as easy as possible for me and visual aids help along with telling me what stores carry it.

I know you are saying, "Hey, Ken, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." To which I'll just say, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness. So you got that goin' for you, which is nice.

Although extremely gay sounding, nothing is better than an Aluminum Ice Cold Bud Light Lime, poolside.

Yea I said it.

Pacifico is a fantastic summer time beer. Light, crisp and very refreshing.

This has been my beer of choice since spring. 6.7% APV and very tasty.

No.

Any of the Lagunitas Brewing beers and ales are very good and usually higher in alcohol content. They have a few super-hoppy ales with IBU# in the 60s and 70s. They taste very citrsy and are quite refreshing.

I just ran across this site in my research. Looks like an interesting fountain of info and reviews of Midwest breweries...

Bud Light Lime is dogshit, but I will agree with the aluminum bottle. Those things stay pretty damn cold.

See if you can find Two Brothers Hop Juice. It's an artisan seasonal stuff but chances are they still have some at the brewery or Sam's/Binny's. I finished the last bottle in my stash last weekend. Best beer I've ever tried. 9.9 ABV. http://www.twobrosbrew.com/Hop%20Juice.htm (Expensive, $7+ a bottle, but nothing that Dr Ken couldn't handle)

Another, less fancy, beer from the same brewery is Domaine DuPage. This is a sweeter, excellently balanced, french country style ale. This should be available in most liquor stores. (Decently priced, sometimes available at Costco)

From the hoppy concoctions department, I also like Arcadia Brewing Co's Hopmouth. This is another outstanding IPA, a bit lett flavorful than Hopmouth but still excellent. 8.1 ABV. Most large liquor stores have it. http://www.arcadiaales.com/beers/hm.html ($4-5/bottle)

Coach is right on here. The Two Brothers Domaine DuPage is very smooth and easy to put down a sixer on a hot day without even realizing it. Plus chicks dig it. Also Lagunitas Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale is very refreshing if you like IPAs with citrus hops like Amarillo and Cascade.

I generally do not like Sam Adams but of the 2 they make I like now is the time for it.
The Summer Ale is light and crisp with a hint of citrus that makes it a nice pleasant drink to enjoy sitting by the pool, I know not snobby enough but it is easy to find and really good to my taste. If it was 20 years ago I would tell you to hunt down some point as that until the jerkwads at Miller got a hold of it , no it is dog piss.

I do agree with the aluminum bottles , they stay cold forever.
Dr almost any white ale/ summer wheat would be a good bet but the weather is not looking like a nice hot day to enjoy one.

Can't believe I forgot my favorite summer beer - Gumballhead from Three Floyd's. Wheat style beer with alot of citrus hops. Very unique and great balance.

It's "Power Hour."

Unless you are really feeling up to it and you will attempt to join the "Century Club."

I've done that.

Neighbors might think I'm a little strange if I'm doing that on my deck, by myself in the middle of the day with a shot glass and a stop watch, though.

They won't if you get the butlers to hold the stop watch and pour your shots.

Yeah, you're right, that wouldn't look strange at all.

Done.

It's actually not breaking subject at all as that is part of the reason that I'm stockpiling beer.

How could your neighbors possibly see so far into your estate? Perhaps you were referring to the groups who tours the grounds?

I grabbed some Oberon and a couple bottles of Hop Juice. I'm looking forward to both.

Dos Equis Amber has taken over my Corona during the warmer months. As it is 60 degrees here in West MI on July 1st, might be time to reach to the back of the fridge for a Boddingtons tonight...
