Bacon is a line drive, gap hitter, not a towering line drive man, IMO. If he hits 25 HR's he will be lucky. Not that he won't be a good player, mind you, just not a slugger.

Right. 25 homers isn't a slugger in today's MLB.

You are right. He is a line drive hitter. But it carries at the Cell and we don't have a high fence.

His first 2 career homeruns were in the same state but in different cities. Cincinnati and Cleveland.

Interleague play has made this more likely. I guess somebody could have done in the national league cuz they have 3 NL teams in California. Maybe it was done in New York when the NL had the Giants and the Dodgers there. Somebody look it up. Beckham might have been the first.

By the way, Beckham is gonna be a .320+ hitter for at least 10 years.

I like your angle, but I think this has to have happened before in California as you've stated. You probably have a better shot by adding that they both have to have happened on the road... that would be a lot harder to fill.

I'm not all that concerned about what Beckham hits for avg... if he can get over 900 OPS over that time frame, I'll be a happy camper. I'm looking for him (ideally) to be our #2 hitter for a long time to come.

Hit them both on the road, in the same state, in different cities and each were hit in a different league. That I don't have to look up. That's never happened.

Point taken, but in the Cell, a linedrive guy could easily hit 15 or 20 HRs there over 81 home games.

The different league part makes it far more unique. Otherwise, I would think there have been players to homer against the Dodgers and Padres 1st and 2nd. What it really means...I'm not sure. But I agree that he's going to be a standout player. I would move him over to SS and have Alexei in CF and go get a 3B until Viciedo is ready. But Ozzie loves Ramirez' s potential at SS. I have seen some remarkable plays from Alexei. But I've also seen far too many mistakes.

In that bandbox he should easily top 20 homers in a full season.

Personally, I don't give a shit that Beckham doesn't or maybe won't hit 30 HRs.
Keep hitting solidly and consistently and drive in needed runs, like the run that beat the Cubs last Sunday.

I know the corners are your power hitters, but let Ramirez hit those HRs and keep him at short.

Beckham needs a haircut though. Kinda poofy.

Like Beardown posits, I definitely see Beckham batting 2nd in the lineup.

25 - 30 HR's sound good, but I prefer 15 homers, .315 BA, 40 stolen bases and .400 OBP. Is that asking too much? Maybe.

If he keeps getting on and driving in runs, I'd keep him down in the 6th ot 7th spot. The bottom of the lineup (overall) has been horrid, and if they can get a run producer down there, it would help things immensely.

Keep Beckham and Getz at the back end. Let the big boppers stay up at the top.

When do we start voting for Beckham as ROY?

Um, when he has more than 5 good games in a row? When his average gets above say at least .275?

He's going to be good, but lets not count the chickens before they hatch here.

I say we all just ask Hawk.

Might go something like, "That Beckam , he got that basefall face ya know, ya know the kinda baseball face that could play anywhere, anyplace, any position. I say we pull em all in and let Him play it all, ya know he's just got that face. Right DJ Oh, sorry Stoney!"

I was being somewhat sarcastic Frank.

Although, can he win two ROYs? One for him and one for his hair?

I believe he is hitting 317 with 13 RBI in his last 15 games.

I'm just saying 15 game doesn'y make ROY. We don't want to sound like we are talking about Mark Prior or something...

Although it's a far cry from an 0-for-13 start of his MLB career, I wouldn't get carried away with the Gordon Beckham for A.L. Rookie of the Year campaign right now. His batting average is now at .267 with 2 homers & 13 RBI's following his 3-for-4 night with 2 RBI's & 2 runs scored at (Not So) Progressive Field in Cleveland. He may be the Sox third baseman right now, but with respect to Chris Getz, I still believe Beckham will ultimately end up at second base long term.

I think he should be batting 2nd in the line up right now. Eventually he'll be a 3 hitter cuz your best hitter should always bat 3. He'll be a 25-30 homerun guy. That and a .320+ average means you should bat 3rd.

I was wrong on Brett Jackson, and I was mostly joking about Randy Wells. He was a serviceable guy that contributed a good rookie campaign for the Cubs. But he has no stuff.

I never rooted for or against Quade. He was just a guy.

Chris Paul is a Hall of Famer. He is the best point guard of the current NBA generation. Rondo definitely does not have a better chance than Paul.

Marmol was not a star. He followed the same path as many closers. A couple dominating years until he got figured out. And figuring Marmol out was as simple as "never swing at anything and you will be awarded first base."

Carlos Zambrano's 2011 season was nowhere near 212 innings, 3.19 ERA, and 18 wins.

When its all said n done...Rondo could very well be considered better than Paul, Cp may be flashier...but were not counting points for being flashy.

No, we're counting points for being better.

Paul is better than Rondo. And always has been. This isn't even a discussion.

Paul has 617 games, 47% FG, 36% 3P, 85.7% FT, 4.4 RPG, 9.9 APG, 2.4 SPG, 18.6 PPG

Rondo has 505 games, 47% FG, 25% 3P, 62% FT, 4.6 RPG, 8.4 APG, 1.9 SPG, 11.1 PPG

It isn't that close. Paul is a star, without question, and always has been. He can distribute, and he can score, efficiently, by driving or shooting.

Rondo cannot shoot at all, and is worse than Paul at everything else.

Tony Parker doesnt agree and there are few that play the Pure PG spot these days, because scoring gets you paid.

Paul reminds me of Mark Jackson, is why I am not a big fan of his. Throwing passes in Lob city, lots of prayer tosses are going to look like Highlights. Like when jackson did spinning behind the back alley oop passes to a trailing Ewing who grabbed anything within 7 feet of the hoop. When the better PG, Rod strickland sat on the bench!
