i really wish more people would take terry to task though; i don't know why anyone can't seem to do it intellectually. he makes a lot of asinine statements that he can't possibly back up, like he'll have no use for someone even though he doesn't know too much about them...it sounds lazy, and he's trying to get a rise out of people. i'd like to see someone challenge him.

See, there's a specific example...and I agree with you. Terry does dismiss guys quickly.

He refused to even give Joakim Noah the slightest bit of credit for improving over the course of this past season. He just said, "I don't like him and he's a clown." Even Dan acknowledged Noah's improvement.

YES that is the one i was trying to think of, and couldn't...i wanted to make a specific example, and that's a good one. even *I* have warmed up to that ugly mofo because he has improved his game. terry just dismisses it and it just strikes me that he is just sticking by it so he doesn't look like he was wrong about something.

Fair enough OKC. The last thing I want to be lumped in with is "these guys". As I've stated before I'm a fan of B&B. If my radio is on from 1-6, it's usually on 670. That being said, I do believe Terry has "lost his fastball". It seems in recent years Terry has relied on the crutch of "You're a dope" or "You're sports ret_____" in lieu of conversation. At times this is warranted, as they do get their share of moron callers, but other times I get the sense he just doesn't want to engage the caller. I also agree that he is a little trigger happy when it comes to dismissing people. It seems that once he has declared something he won't budge. I go all the way back to Sportsfire with Terry, and always thought he was the best panelist on the show. That said, I don't expect him to be the same guy he was 20 years ago. Who is? I just find him to be disinterested at times. I hope I'm not regurgitating any talking points, just giving you my 2 cents.

I respect your opinion A7X. And I wasn't necessarily singling you out when I made the "losing his fastball" reference. But yeah, Terry is definitely guilty of being presumptuous because he'll assume he knows what a caller is trying to say after one or two sentences and he's often wrong about it. Also, like you said he's stubborn. Once he develops a stance on a guy or a situation, he's set in that opinion no matter what evidence is presented to challenge him.

Ok...here's a good reason for you. The B&B show was much better back when Terry actually broadcast from the WSCR studio. I think him working from home effects the on air chemistry

But that's subjective. That's your opinion and you're presenting it as fact. Others...in fact many...may feel that Terry's broadcasting location has absolutely no effect on the show's chemistry and flow whatsoever. I happen to fall in that category.

Like RFDC said: present a real reason. And if you want to go with the "studio chemistry" angle, at least give a specific example.

No...I presented this as my opinion.

That someone should be Bernsey. Once in a while B&B should challenge each other, rather than the callers.

Obviously you don't listen, because that does happen Scorehead. Bernstein challenges Terry often. What you seem to be looking for is constant bickering between the co-hosts.

Thanks Kid Cairo, for the info. Maybe someone can help me with this. What is deal with the falling off the horse remarks ? Sorry if I seem so far out of the loop. I listen to The Score a lot, I just don't know what they are referring to.

The two things that bug me most about Terry Boers are: 1) He doesn't watch enough sports. I can't count the times that Dan or someone else bring up some athletic contest and Terry didn't bother to watch it. Not that he was busy watching another game----no, he just didn't care to watch it. It's your JOB!!! You are supposed to voice opinions and have observations to talk about, on the radio. 2) His propensity to say "I'm not sure....." like "I'm not sure The Cubs can rebound and win the Central this season". Take a stand!! Have an opinion. Say "I don't believe the Cubs will win their division this season" and then detail the reasons for your opinion, or "I still believe the Cubs may go on a hot streak and can still win, what is a mediocre division in 2009". By saying I don't know, or I'm not sure, it gives him the ability to back off the statement and say "well, I never said they would or wouldn't. I wasn't sure either way. It's riding the fence. It's cowardly and uninteresting.

Matt, on the other hand, has opinions and is not afraid to state which side he stands on. I have seen improvement from him already, as he has calmed down and gotten more comfortable in his new position (insert line here). In terryesque style, I must say "I'm not sure that Matt needs to take any advice from Terry Boers.

You actually believe that? It's all part of Terry's schtick. Im pretty sure that the guys have even addressed this on days when Terry is out.

Do I believe that as a Sports radio talk show host, that Terry should actually watch and read about whats going on in the sports world, so that he can better prepare himself to be able to offer knowledgeable and intelligent opinons and observations about those contests??? Hell Yeah.

Not constant...just occasionally, like maybe once a day.
With regards to yesterdays B&B discussion about firing Lou, if a caller had called to suggest the Cubs replace Lou, B&B would ha ve jumped all over the caller, calling him a meatball fan. But when Terry says that Lou should be replaced, Dan agrees.
