W_Z, I truly feel for her, but I have to question her intellect. On the one hand, she is a rocket scientist, on the other, she is trying to drive through customs in a stolen police car with an exposed firearm in the passenger seat! My only guess is that this is due to all of the murdering she has done recently and their effects upon her psyche.

She kind of puts herself in a Catch-22, but if only they knew what kind of struggles she had to go through.

Meanwhile, the Sheriff just knows how to handle people. I thought that guy was going to kill him, but he knew how to talk him down. His line about the good Lord throwing down his gauntlet made me choke up with tears. It was so true.

Now that we are in a commercial, I have some time to reply W_Z. Pardon me CSFMB, but was that or was that not just pure Stacy Keach? The man knows how to play a tough lawman with a heart of gold. I wasn't worried for a second that he would be able to convert the racist from a problem to part of the solution. Meanwhile, I'm concerned that the military keeps on using these missles on the meteor fragments, and that they are not saving enough firepower to destroy the meteor itself! It seems that George is the only person smart enough to realize this; hopefully Marla can contact them in time.

In this final commercial break, I'm wondering what other countries are doing? Yes, the fallout appears to be hitting the western portion of the United States, but if the endgame is the end of the world, I would hope that some other countries with ICBMs might offer to help out? Did we not want to alarm them of impending doom? I suppose keeping a global scare out of the picture might be worthwhile. I personally am stuck in a situation where I have so many questions, my adrenaline is pumping full bore, yet I know there will be less than 10 minutes before I have to wait for a week! No way I fall asleep before 3AM today.

Guys, I'll be honest. I could not sleep last night because I am so excited about the conclusion of this. I had a lot of dreams about what could happen but this show has twisted and turned in so many directions, I'm sure I'm wrong about all of my predictions. So I just have to wait and see. This will be an epic ending, for sure. I have no idea what will happen, but man they HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT CASSANDRA!

I don't believe that you guys have given the awesomeness of this show justice. My wife thinks they are just setting this thing up to deus ex machina it. But, I said, "NO WAY", the way things are going that machina will not have any gas.

My favorite part was when the nurse was running out of the hospital and telling the mom that it was too dangerous to go back to the 2nd floor where her child was - where it was apparent that the nurse had just come and apparently left a bunch of children up there. What a hero!

I suspect Meteor's greatness will only be exceeded in two weeks on NBC by Luke Perry and The Storm.

I think personally it is too soon for me to post about what this mini-series has meant to me. Hopefully later on tonight I'll be able to get my thoughts together and try to write up a short post. I've been a scatterbrain at work today so far.

I'd say this thread is worthy of this honor.

OK! Guys, we have a week here to let it all sink in. What I'm probably going to do is watch this about 5-6 more times, and really study the coordinates in those cut scenes, so I can see if I'm seeing what Jason Alexander is. I think, too, newper, it's time to get cracking on trying to solve that algorithm.

I think we all need to be up to speed with these characters come next Sunday night, so we aren't lost because let me tell you that was a roller coaster of so much, I could hardly breathe!

Doc, when "The Storm" airs, that is when I will pay attention. Right now my plate is full with this one. And it's a heavy meal and it looks delicious!

I apologize ahead of time for this somewhat self indulgent post, but I want to try to put all of my emotions into words that perhaps I can look back on in five, ten, or twenty years and remember exactly how I was feeling.

Safe to say that anybody who watched Meteor last night has had their life irrefutably changed. For many (perhaps most), Meteor was a thrilling action-adventure TV event with great special effects, greater writing, and even more greater than that acting. I could easily write several paragraphs about Alexander, Sokoloff, Lloyd, Campbell, Hudson, Rooker, Keach, et al. Just top notch performance from this ensemble all star cast. It seemed that every ten seconds there was another plot twist to stay on top of. W_Z was smart enough to start a journal to transcribe those map codes... I personally didn't make any notes and have been regretting that decision all day. We were given a lot to digest in a mere two hours, but WOW, how entertaining and thrilling!

Of course I was able to give this movie some more thought over the course of the day and I feel I have discovered why this movie has even more resonance with me. In many ways, I am made up of the various roles of this film. From Lloyd's nerdy brilliance, Hudson's commanding presence, Alexander's stoic work attitude, to Keach's powerful peacemaking, each of these in a way makes up my soul. Of course, my soul is not perfect -- I have some of Rooker's lust for violence and the racist's hatred towards ignorant water hoarders, but each of these qualities makes up a unique self. These parts of my soul live in my body, represented in Meteor as the United States/World. The constant barrage of little meteors represent all of the problems thrown at me in my day to day life -- from the construction-riddled route to work every morning, to the burn suffered from retrieving a pizza from the oven, to the bladder control issues that force me to wear absorbent undergarments -- the little meteors are out to get me. I use my own missiles to combat them -- patience, oven mitts, Depends -- and I am able to get by in life and lead a happy one. Unfortunately, as in the movie, I know I have my own Kassandra lurking. I'm looking forward to being inspired next Sunday, and perhaps I can confront that demon in the near future as well.

GUYS! Tonight is the night. I just re-read newper's very thoughtful post, and I agree on all points.

Notice the pattern? I've worked out most of the coordinates but I'm running into the same problems that Dr. Chetwyn (Alexander) is running into. It's very hard to find a consistency that we can really nail down exactly how to destroy Kassandra. It's not as easy as some people (in the military!) think. Really, it's very complicated. I'm going to have to work on this all day. I'm hoping to complete a thesis by tonight, but I'm a bit dubious. However, I am counting down the minutes before the concluding episode tonight! I cannot wait.

Any update W_Z? The show is starting again! Seems to have spread beyond the west coast though. I noticed Zachary has dropped the Ty from his name.

had to make an ice cream run and i just got home! damn, i've probably missed a whole lot too. commercial break right now...

oh man my head is spinning. so much chaos...i can't believe the meteor hit a nuclear power plant!

It is a bit too much to recap, but basically the people think that the meteor showers are over but as we know (and they don't) the meteor split into two, so they have only dealt with the first one. Solkloff ran into some profiteering service station managers who she unsuccessfully try to strong arm into letting her make a phone call, and now a meteor has hit a nuclear power plant. These kids are stuck in the hospital on their own while one of them is dying, Stacy Keach is trying to keep things calm... in general, it has been 28 minutes of non-stop action, W_Z!
