Well, I suppose they have the built-in excuses that the effects of the new lineup haven't been felt yet, and Mac & Spiegel are still "gelling," and so on and so forth, but the truth is these are really pretty bad.

It wasn't that long ago that the Score ruled middays and that was even with North consistently giving them a losing morning drive lead-in. Mully & Hanley did well when they got the 10-12 slot and then Murph for a time was the top-rated English-language show in his slot.

It's like looking at baseball standings in May.

I feel like a broken record and quite frankly get tired of saying it, but I'll say it again. It takes time to build radio chemistry.

Waddle and Silvy were horrid at the beginning, unlistenable.

If you have an ax to grind with Mac and Meat that's fine, but don't take less than 2 months as a sample size and use it to say they suck.

That's just stupid.

That's why I think it was dumb to schedule his vacation week. The post before yours says they were still "gelling" and it's too early. Actually I agree, the show ain't there yet and Mac and Meat don't sound right together yet, and that's why you don't stop the train on the tracks.
W&S at the beginning were better than Mac and Meat, I'm sorry. I think Silvy was great back with Carm and i think he's great with Waddle.
Very different styles there. Silvy isnt' as.... overbearing? Overconfident?
This week I've turned back to S&W and I am sorry to say, is just the best show on radio in the morning. Besides the Drive.

Darkside is right. But also contributing to the WSCR ratings slide is the number of dufferent hosts they are now using. Having different hosts each day on each show doesnt allow listeners to follow those that they like. With a stable of pro's like Drinky, Goff & Murph, why do they need Rosenbloom, Wolf, Greenstein, KC Johnsn & Rozner?

Please do not put Murph's name in the same sentence with Drinky and Goff. Thank you.

Maybe so. Time will tell, but I thought between all the legions of Mac fans out there and the curiosity seekers (like me) who wanted to hear what his new offerings sounded like, those June numbers would've gotten a bit more of a bump relative to MVP.

Agreed. WSCR gave Mac mid-days; then he's gone for a week. Granted, this week in sports just sucks to high heaven anyways; but they still could of waiting and premiered Mac's show next week.

I am of a mindset to give it time; though. As someone pointed out, Silvy and Waddle was a God awful listen when they first started; and are pretty good now.

Yes, that's just terrible. The ONLY time Drinky and Murph should be in the same sentence is if you are talking about Cubs fans who are on (or were on) the radio; and that one has a brain, the other has a mustache.

Silvy and Waddle were bad but I thought it was because of Waddle. I don't know what the issue is with Mac&Meat and I'm not sure how they can fix it.

At first I didn't like Waddle cause I thought he thought he was hot shit and he kinda talked down to Silvy, whom I liked a lot from his midmorning show. Man, I really liked Carm and Silvy and when he was with Waddle, it was like Waddle was calling him gay all the time and talking down to him and I didn't like it.
They've moved on from that and it's a SOLID show.

Mac... well, he's putting on a bit of the big timer tude too. I switched to S&W this week and found that I was glad to be back. I'll try Mac again in a couple months when Football is on full swing... but I don't know that I want to miss S&W's football acumen.

The beauty of podcasts is I can listen to both shows and not miss either one. I enjoy S & W and I agree with you - I think Waddle was big timing Silvy when they first started and it just felt uncomfortable. They are a good listen now.

Mac is always going to be a good listen no matter who he is paired with. I don't know if Mac and Meatpants will be partners in 6 months from now, only time will tell - if the numbers jump, I am sure they will - if not, I look for Mac to move to afternoons with Bernsy or whoever after TB retires. I don't know when that will be though.
