The unveiling of the new "Chicago 16'' Softball Hall of Fame Inductee Park located in Forest Park is Sunday. This event will honor 300 or more great softball players. Afterwards, restaurateur Rich Melman, already a Hall of Famer, will host a North Side vs. South Side game featuring broadcasters MIKE NORTH, Bob Sirott, the Bears' Robbie Gould, state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, state Sen. Rickey Hendon & others.

ABOUT TOWN: I dined at Hugo's the other night and ran into baseball superstar Frank "Big Hurt" Thomas and his wife, Megan, who showed me a precious photo of their 9-month-old son, Frank III, who looks just like his daddy.

AROUND TOWN: NBC "Late Night" host Jimmy Fallon ate at Bull & Bear.

THE BIRTHDAY SET: Michael "Flaming Feet" Flatley, Mike Kessler & belated to Majestic Star's Chareice White.

After much deliberation, I've decided to pass on attending the celebrity softball game. I've come to the conclusion I can still live a happy, meaningful life without having seen State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias play softball.
