Steve Stone returns to WSCR

If you were a Steve Stone fan, you only heard his take on the White Sox this year as the team's TV analyst.

Now you can hear him analyze all of baseball, including the Cubs. WSCR-AM 670 has announced that Mr. Stone is returning to the station. He will make scheduled appearances Monday at 7 a.m. and Friday at 2 p.m.

Mr. Stone had been an SCR regular since leaving the Cubs after the 2004 season. However, earlier this year, he told me the two parties hadn't been able to reach a deal for 2009.

Obviously, the deal finally got done.

Yay! I can't wait to hear Stone talk about the Cub's back-loaded contracts.

To tell you the truth, it didn't even register with me that he was gone. I just thought he was doing his segments at times I happened not to be listening.

Please tell me that the return of Steve Stone means the end of the Joe Cowley era.

I don't think so... Steve may be the White Sox TV analyst these days, but he knows a thing or two about the Cubs that the likes of Lou Piniella & G.M. Jim Hendry don't.

Amazing how the same people who ripped on Mariotti for year for not being at the park, now employ a guy who doesn't even watch the games, but yet has plenty to say about them.

I would call out Ed for not asking Stone about his Cub dislike now, but I know he just denies and denies, so it is kind of a broken record.

This makes me happy...I'll be able to listen to Stone on my way home from work on Fridays...I've always liked him...

Since the braintrust behind a "quality bullpen start...I mean, stat....quality bullpen stat" is now gone; I can see how the door was opened for Stone to return.

If he were the cubs pitching coach Prior and Wood may be productive starting pitchers today.

Prior's problem was that he was a Nancyboy. It had nothing to do with his innings and everything to do with a lack of manhood.

Prior had bad mechanics, as did Wood. Stone pointed it out from day one but instead of paying attention to what he was saying everyone was angry about how he said it.

stone's terrible on the radio. he's so goddamn long winded and pompous, it's turned the dial when he's on.

Bullshit. Stone is a bitter old man who walked away from a contract thinking they would beg him back. No one in baseball has hired this stupid prick over the years. Baseball genius is the funniest phrase ever used to describe this whiny loser.

Steve Stone is a great Baseball analyst.
As for Prior, Dusty Baker ruined him by pitching him until his arm was ready to fall off.

I like Stone.......

I don't know . . . maybe I'd like him if I ever listened long enough to hear his full answer to a question. He's so long-winded, I usually have to get out of the car or do something else before he's finished.

I did too, ten years ago. The more time he got behind a mic, separate from a live game, the more douchbaggy he became. I first came to this conclusion when he was on with Kap and Waddle about nine years ago, during the Joe Carter/Dave Otto era. He has gotten worse with age.

I recall before the 2004 season Stone saying Wood would have his greatest season as a Cub, he was certainly on the Wood bandwagon...I guess his mechanics weren't a problem back then

He said something positive about a cub?? THAT BASTARD!!!!!

Maybe Wood finally tried to change his mechanics that season after 2?? 3?? 4?? stints on the DL.

A Prior injury was inevitable. Dustiny just sped up the process.
