What the fuck is going on with this antiquated concept of "journalistic integrity"? That idea went out the window with "governmental integrity" c.1940, finished completely off by c.1973.

It's an ideal kids, not reality.

Of course it would be great if doing less-than-honorable things were not necessary to get the needed information for a good story or for a good bill to be passed. Occasionally it does happen, but it's in spite of the norm rather than being the norm.

I don't know if everyone is wracked with sadness about Cronkite or if there was an "All the President's Men" marathon recently on AMC that I missed, but let's not go batshit crazy with this "journalistic integrity" crap. We hope there is some, but if you think it's the norm, you don't really have a lot of contact with how things (sadly) work these days in either of those fields specifically, or in life more generally.

Sure Erin looks great...but she also really does have a great personality & does a good job.
Obviously good looks are important in TV, but dont let Erins good looks make you think that she isnt good at what she does. As far as sideline reporters go, she's the best, regardless of looks.

Asking stupid questions on the sideliness can be done by just about anyone regardless of looks.......I cant ever remeber her asking one question that wasnt a "cliche" type or a "gimmie"....Like "you just scored a TD how does it feel to score a TD"...WOW now thats reporting!!

No...it isn't easy. You would crap your pants in that situation.

I second that emotion.

With only the most rudimentary knowledge about everyone on this boad, I'm sure there are dozens of people here who have perfomed live in front of hundreds or thousands of people on a number of occasions ... I am part of that group as well. I was never so comfortable in my life - much to my surprise - when I played in front of thousands, with Mel Torme (obviously before he croaked).

Those people we performed for were all right there in front of us; conversely, she's talking to a camera guy, perhaps the guy holding the cables, and some nitwit athelete. She's not teaching our nation's children to read. She's just yammering incessantly with one other person in front of about two other people. I've had higher-populated conversations in my old dorm floor shitter (it seated six comfortably).

The only real difference between talking to a camera and talking to the wall is that they won't put you in the nut-hatch for the former. To say differently is because one chooses to make more out of it than there really is.

True...but have you considered that JK's son is a Defensive Back and his coach favors the cover-2?

Now what do you think?

C'mon now ... I get the gist but again I'm not for bringing Scorehead's (or anyone else's) progeny into the discussions (even though it is an established reference).

(and as far as my post above, I know ... you're happy for me)

Look, sure many of us "perform" in front of many people. I give sales presentations to large groups of people, sometimes 100 to 200. Obviously merely asking the questions that a sideline reporter does is fairly simple.
My problem with the tone of this discussion is that many here somehow think that this is Erin Andrews fault because "she sells sex". I have news for you, I see more sex being sold on my kids High School campus than I do by Erin. What the fuck do you want her to wear, Amish dresses? Should we blame a Women for dressing nice & looking good?
I hope like hell that they catch the creep who rigged her Hotel room with the peephole.

For the record, here are my 3 keys to a good presentation:

1. Preperation.
2. Dont eat a big meal before.
3. Take a good dump before.

Pretty good show but I don't know if Dan's admittance to whipping out the one hitter and sharing some tokes with Bears players is a good move as Im sure the next time he's speeding in the Chicago/ Central Canada area the police would be more likely to do more than just write a ticket. :?

What the hell is your deal?

At no point in your original post, or in the follow-up replies to it (including my dissertation) was anybody's point about her selling sex. You said the reader would crap their pants doing what she did.

Now unless you were under the impression she was making scattological porn, I don't think you were referring to her selling sex, but instead interviewing atheletes.

It's like you write something, have three more conversations in your head that nobody else hears, then pick up writing as though we heard those conversations.

Well regardless of anyone's moral stances or "journalistic integrity" nonsense, i thought it was a great listen this morning just to hear them fired up at each other.

I wish I was a better writer. I could be employed, have access to and possibly have sex with athletes. Sounds like the perfect job, but I think the sex part should only be for fun and have nothing to do with work.

Yea...I gotta believe he is backpeddling now because either Mitch or Dans agent, or both, told him he is bordering on dangerous territory.
Who the fuck would admit on the air that he spoked pot with Bears players???

Don't think for a second that the same thing does not occur on the political beat.

I know for a fact that Kennedy used Helen Thomas as a slumpbuster.
