No, they don't, at least not in reaction to the Cardinals.

The ownership mess the Cubs are currently in has tied G.M. Jim Hendry's hands, and the Northsiders can't add salary to an already underachieving roster. As for the White Sox, they supposedly made an offer for Toronto ace Roy Halladay, but their General Manager probably told G.M. Kenny Williams to hang up on himself. The $64,000 question continues to surround where Halladay may end up, and so far, the Blue Jays haven't exactly been impressed with what other teams have offered to this point. Halladay might not be going anywhere come July 31st.

They are very limited in what they can do though, not just because of their ownership situation, but because they have millions of dollars already invested in many positions, and no team (outside of the Yankees) make a habit of just sitting guys making $10 million plus or have the payroll to continue adding high money guys to replace the big money guys already playing poor.

I'm sure they will look at a relief pitcher to the mix, hopefully they surprise and go after Sanchez.

I'm not sure what the White Sox do, if anything. They just got Quentin back, and so that basically equates, assuming he is healthy, to a significant offensive addition.

Williams may just look to add an innings eater for the end of the rotation, instead of having to depend on Richard or Torres.

ESPN's Jayson Stark reported earlier today that the Phillies don't exactly want to give up their 3 prized prospects to the Blue Jays for pitcher Roy Halladay, but FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal mentioned that the Angels have increased their pursuit of the hard-throwing right hander on the MLB/FOX Sports' pregame this afternoon. Rosenthal added that the rumors about the Indians possibly dealing Cliff Lee may have to do with last year's A.L. Cy Young Winner asking, but not getting a contract extension to remain in Cleveland during last offseason.

The Phillies aren't going to get Halladay if they aren't willing to move their top prospects, seems like a reasonable assumption unless they are calling the Blue Jays bluff.

The Angels probably have the minor league talent to make a move, let's see if they can pull the trigger.

There's a report that says the Jay's asked the Angels for Joe Saunders, Erick Aybar, Brandon Wood and another top prospect. The Angels obviously said no. If Ricciardi is going to ask for this type of a return I don't see how any team can meet his asking price.

Why do I get this feeling that the Blue Jays and their outrageous trade demands for Roy Halladay will prevent the hard-throwing right hander from being dealt? It seems very much like what that idiot Andy MacPhail (or should I say MacFail?) was hoping to get in any rumored deal for second baseman Brian Roberts with the Orioles before Baltimore I believe re-signed their star player in the offseason...

Toronto shouldn't give him away though. To this point, Philadelphia hasn't put their best prospect into the deal. I can see why the Blue Jays would balk at that.

The Rays and Red Sox are each discussing blockbuster deals with the Indians for both Cliff Lee and Victor Martinez.

Wow. The report says The Rays are willing to includel Wade Davis (their top prospect) but Boston is balking at Clay Buchholz. Not sure how you expect to deal for those two and NOT include your best prospect. I would also think the Indians could get more if they traded them in separate deals.

:Yahoo's Gordon Edes reports that the Red Sox offered Clay Buchholz, Michael Bowden and Ryan Westmoreland to the Blue Jays for Halladay.

If true I'm not sure Ricciardi is going to find a better package than that. Buchholz and Bowden are front of the roration starters.

I wonder why Gordon Edes just doesn't ask the GM's if this rumor is true.

It's starting to look more & more as if Roy Halladay's not going anywhere. The Blue Jays are either asking for a king's ransom or they simply can't get equal value in return for one of the most dominating pitchers in the game right now.

Red Sox Close To Deal For Cliff Lee?

Rob Bradford at WEEI is reporting that the Red Sox are close to a deal that would net Cliff Lee from the Indians for Michael Bowden, Josh Reddick and another prospect.

Here we go! I think the next few days are going to be VERY busy.

Edit: Well isn't this ridiculous. Rob Bradford at WEEI tweets: "I have not reported anything. Somebody is hacking into my account."

Someone needs to call the GM's!

FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal says that Cliff Lee inquired about the Indians rewarding last year's A.L. Cy Young Award Winner with a contract extension and their management said no.

Kovacevic says the Mariners acquire Wilson and Ian Snell for Clement, Ronny Cedeno, Aaron Pribanic, Brett Lorin and Nathan Adcock.

Hard to believe Wilson and Snell netted the Pirates 5 players. Clement was the 3rd or 4th pick in the draft a few years ago. He's probably not good enough defensively to be an everyday catcher but he could definitely hit enough to be a backup C/1B. Of the other 3 Lorin is the only one in the top 20 Mariner prospects (18). Cedeno is what he is but this looks like a pretty good return for 2 blah players.

Edit: looks like the Pirates are paying both Wison's and Snell's contracts for this season. This sways the trade a little bit towards the Mariners. Free players are good players.

Not for long. I think they'll also move Grabow and Capps. Duke is a possibility to go too. Neal Huntington is cleaning house but it was a really shitty house.

That M's/Bucs trade is pretty awesome, IMO. Ian Snell is a good "get" for the Mariners - Safeco is pitcher's heaven and the addition of Snell makes theirs the best rotation in the division going forward. I'm not sure, but I think the team also will get compensation draft picks for Wilson when his contract expires (this off-season or next, think it's this year, though).

Pirates are smart to clean house, that's a given. They've got plenty of young bats and may need only a couple smart free agent signings the next couple years to make them a competitive franchise, top to bottom.
