That's why Kenny needs to make a deal for a starter. Any day now would be fine with me.....

Starting pitching has not been the problem. It certainly wasn't the problem in this series. We've got one of the best staffs in MLB. Look at the ERAs. Hell, Richard is our 5th guy and he has back to back 8 inning/1 run games.

Oh, how I hope you're right. CW tells me that the Sox should get to Perkins often and early, while Dank should pitch well.

But, the game's being played in that damn Dome, so it's a toss-up for me.

I have found that getting to "Perkins Steak and Cake" early is always best. However, the "Dank" will eventually fail you a piss test.
So, I am not sure how well it will pitch, but I am sure it tastes good when burnt.

What?? They went into a weekend series against the first place team and ran out Jose Contreras and Bartolo Colon in the first 2 games. They lost those games before they were even played. Richard has had a couple nice games but he is FAR too inconsistent to be depended on for the stretch run. They need another dependable starter because a combination of Contreras/Colon/Sweaty Freddy/Richard in the back end of the rotation will not win this division.

Strongly disagree. The Sox scored 1 run in the first game. And they had a lead late in the game, and Linebrink put guys on and Thronton walked one in. So that is Bartolo's fault? Contreras did not pitch great, but the Sox had chances to score runs in that game.

Beardown is right. The starters (overall) have not been a major problem. The reason they dropped 3 of 4 in Detriot was the bullpen, not starting pitching. The reason they did not end up with a 4 game sweep of the Rays was the bullpen.

I agree that another starter would be a great help, but the recent struggles have been because of the bullpen.

The recent problems have been in the bullpen, and with the offense. Still, even though they lost 3 of 4 in Detroit, had their bullpen not fallen apart, they would have, at worse, split in Detroit, and maybe taken 3 games.

This team has been a starter down all season. They have 63 games remaining which means the 4th/5th starters will make 12 more starts. Do you feel comfortable with that combination of pitchers making 24 starts down the stretch? I sure as hell don't especially with the upcoming schedule they have. A series in New York, Boston or Los Angeles with two of these pitchers going is a losing series. The bullpen is going through a rough stretch but I have far more confidence in them turning it around than I do about Conteras/Colon/Sweaty Freddy/Richard making quality starts.
