Maybe someone well connected enough can get a copy of the lawsuit. Sure I will work on it as well.

Why hasn't COMCAST or the WHITE SOX Been named? Maybe they have?

I assume Jiggets was named because North paid him from Advertising he brought in, so why didn't Jen get her name listed?

I would assume North could very easily settle this with a check, but that check might need to cover the $300,000 to COMCAST, all the money paid to Webio people and expenses around $1 million?

The lawyer seems to be making a big deal of the fact that North says he knew Hernandez for almost 20 years, had dealings with him at the Score, etc., so how could North not have known SOMETHING about this guy.

If you look at the transcript of the show where they introduced Hernandez as the title sponsor, Jiggs publicly makes many of the same claims about knowing Hernandez for a long time; hence he's a likely target to go after, whereas Jen has made no such claims--I don't think.

That's a good point. Maybe that's the angle by the lawyer. Comcast didn't know Hernandez. Nor did Reinsdorf. Maybe that's why they aren't being sued.

no one knows for sure about how this will all go down.

One thing is for sure. Norths rep is shattered. Whatever career avenues he may have had a few months ago have alll but disappeared. I couldnt be happier.

The suckers he may have fooled in the past are all but gone!

Why not name them anyway? Deeper pockets, greater possibility of a quick settlement to make it go away.

I think being his acquaintence helps North's case. It's probably why they didn't feel the need to check him out. They figured they knew him.

True. I would still think they have a right to get "Next Step" money from both Reinsdorf and Comcast. Hey, maybe Reinsdorf and Comcast already gave the money back.

I'm no legal expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express.
Anyway, I don't think Comcast nor the White Sox would be named because they had no dealings with Hernandez to my knowledge. As I understand it, the Monsters show is brokered so they were buying the time which takes Comcast off the hook as they are not involved in any of the production or advertising. They lent some production help but that was it.
As for the White Sox I can't see them being a part of this as they really have no financial or personal investment in the program. Hernandez and North may know Reinsdorf, but I doubt he was willing to go into business at all with either of these two. Being a guest on the show was probably as far as Reinsdorf was willing to go.

There would be nothing to gain by going after any of those North brought on board because they really had no insight as to what the financial arrangements to the whole deal were. It seemed like the money people and those who seemed to have been in the know, were Hernandez, North, Jiggetts, Bebe and I would think Jeff Schwartz. That's who they would go after.

Yeah. Maybe these investors aren't entitled to all of the "bad money". Maybe Reinsdorf is in the clear cuz of what Chip said. For example, Hernandez threw a big launch party at a restaurant. The restaurant took "bad money". That bill must have been 2 or 3 thousand dollars. I don't think the restaurant has to give that money back. I don't think the airline that flew everybody to Vancouver and Detroit for hockey games has to give back that money. The 5-star hotel that George stayed at doesn't have to give back the money.

They're just going after people "in the know".

White Sox and COMCAST would be named because they have the money to pay the investors back and they got money that was really investors money. It can be easily tracked.
Maybe they did give back the money and that is why they aren't named, or maybe they have been sent a letter asking for the money back and another suit could be coming?

Reinsdorf retains a top law firm that he helped to found. He would have himself and the Sox dismissed from the lawsuit rather quickly.

Maybe Reinsdorf will come out of his cave and realize that in his position as Chairman of these franchises he ought to have the balls to take some heat instead of buying off mentally infirm media types like Mike North with flattery and cigars.
For a guy who is so proud to be from Brooklyn, Reinsdorf seems like the kid everybody took lunch money from.

I get the exact opposite impression. Imagine North having the temerity to go before Reinsdorf w/ a future business proposal. How many words would Pappy get in before he's escorted from the building?

NOW, I am sure Reinsdorf's "relationship" with North is done.

Damn, I wish I had a copy of that damned WSCR ad on the main concourse of The Cell 2 years ago with Reinsdorf and North!!!!!!

I'm well connected to the internets. It's posted on the court's website. The most amusing read is DH's investment K exhibit. Resident legal minds and grammar cops would get a kick out of it.

It claims that Pappy and Jiggs got in excess of 100k in compensation for Chicagosportswebio. I don't know if that means combined or each. Still, that's a lot of money for a 3 month operation.

Paragraphs 15 and 16 explain what they're claiming on Mike & BeBe and Jiggs.

My, that's a lot of "compensation" to pay out to just two people in three months from an outfit that took in only $2,300 in revenue, all of which went right back out the door for Ofman's plane fares and hotel bills, isn't it?

I think it goes without saying they'll have to give back any compensation they received for webio.

But the Lawyer said he's looking for more than just that:

Belongia said the goal is to get investors as much money back as possible, with punitive damages and attorney fees, which could total in the millions of dollars.

I guess, from reading this thing, they are saying that Hernandez has 3.5 million dollars somewhere. They also want his 2 cars.

Did the furniture rental place take back the mahogany tables yet? They belong in the Chicago Broadcast Hall of Fame, so future generations can see what brought down the empire of the once-popular Mike North.

If the only thing this lawsuit is about is taking back their webio compensation then Jiggs and Pappy should just give it back and avoid the trial. They both should know it's not their money. Hell, they both should know they didn't do anything to earn it. It's not like they dedicated any time or effort to get that money. If they are really gonna fight for it then they are stupid and I hope more is taken from them.

I could see them fighting for the punitive damages that the lawyer is hinting at. They have to fight that. Maybe a jury will find that they owe that too.

I'm actually shocked that the FEDS haven't taken that "compensation" money. Maybe they're in the process of doing that. Maybe these civil lawsuits will speed up the FEDS in that process. Maybe it will speed up other actions by the FEDS.
