I could see them fighting for the punitive damages that the lawyer is hinting at. They have to fight that. Maybe a jury will find that they owe that too.

That's exactly the extent of the damages that will be awarded. There isn't going to be any punitive damages against North. The judge would laugh in the lawyers face if he even seriously sought them.

We all hate North, none moreso than me, but facts are facts, and the facts in this case is that North did NOTHING wrong to the plaintiff in this lawsuit aside from the paychecks he got from Hernandez. North didn't have any duty to the plaintiff and in fact had no legal relationship with the plaintiff on any level.

I'm actually shocked that the FEDS haven't taken that "compensation" money. Maybe they're in the process of doing that. Maybe these civil lawsuits will speed up the FEDS in that process. Maybe it will speed up other actions by the FEDS.

Now, does anyone honestly think Mike will give back the money without a fight? This, from the guy who wanted to go one on one with Ozzie Guillen since Ozzie *gasp* swore at him?

Of course not. North will fight this as far as it can be fought, even if it means spending more in legal fees than he actually owes in damages.

Thanks for clearing this up.
North can just write a check.......Jiggetts, who tastelessly made a career at WSCR talking about his love of money, has to be chewing the carpet to have to cough up the 100k. Jiggetts may have to start up his tab at Arby's again.

Go to #38 to learn about the Pappy and Jiggs part.

After reading this I come away with three thoughts
1) It implies North and Jiggs "promoted" Hernanadez, if they EVER went to any potential investor meetings- thye are screwed.

2) Hernandez has to be one of the greatest salesmen of alltime- he raised $12 mil from mom and pop types in one year!!

3) Where the hell is the rest of the money?

I think this lawsuit is gonna try to get more than just Pappy's and Jigg's "compensation".

1. They'll try to recover all other salarys and expenses of webio. If they can't get it from Hernandez they'll try to get it from the Norths. But they'll be able to get whatever money Hernandez has left. Just cuz it belongs to the investors. So they might just try to get the webio money from Jiggs, Bebe and Pappy. That just helps them get more back.

2. They'll try for punitive damages

If Jiggs and the Norths were front men for "Next Step" they'll try to prove things on that too. This will help them get punitive damages.

1. Knowledge of Hernandez's past. Knowledge that webio was operating way over its head financially. Something that officers of a company should be aware of.

2. Fraud

I agree and I think I'll send some of the items posted here over the years about North's BS comments to help the lawyers dig a little deeper. feel sorry for the people who got scammed. I wonder if they know about Webby's meeting with North when he implied he owned 30% of CSW? The Phil Rosenthal article should be interesting along with buttboy Sherman's interviews, little wonder Ed sherman has "extended his vacation".

This civil suit is just the beginning of the saga. By the end of it, John Kirk is going to cry.

How is North exactly going to fight to keep his money when the feds are staring him down?

"Ill gotten gains"

Anybody who made any money off a DH venture better had not spent it, because it is legitimate target of a lawsuit. Once the money is obtained through fraudulent means, anyone who got that money can......and WILL, be forced to surrender it, if the paintiffs win their case.

Ask the dear, beloved Mrs. Madoff.

Jesse, I hope like hell you didn't spend it.

The two things I find most interesting in this document:

1) Jiggs and North received $100,000 for allowing their mediocore television show to be simulcast on the webio for 3 months. Nice money for basically doing no additional work. (If you even consider what they are doing to be "work".)

2) I love the charts that show how your investment will grow. $10,000 becomes $36,000+ in one year. A $25,000 investment grows to $94,000+ in the same year. How anyone with even a limited amount of intelligence could look at these numbers, and not know it is a scam is beyond belief. "If it looks to good to be true, it is."

I've never needed a trial lawyer.

1. How much will it cost Pappy to retain a lawyer from now until the trial is finished? How much for an average lawyer? How much for a good lawyer?

2. Will Pappy have to pay double because he'll need himself and BeBe to be defended. I assume they are 2 different cases that require a fee for each.

3. When do you think this trial will start? How long does it usually take to start a civil trial once the lawsuit is filed?

1. I'm on the other side so don't know for sure, but defense attorneys charge hourly and rates can be anywhere from $200-$400 per hour. And it would all have to be paid in advance via a retainer. I would imagine he would have to bring at least $5000-$10,000 to the initial meeting with the lawyer just to get the ball rolling.

2. Its the same case, but they are both defendants. If they were smart they would each higher their own attorney. They had different jobs at Webio and when push comes to shove, it may end up being a conflict of interests for one attorney to represent both, i.e. if one of them has to testify AGAINST the other. And honestly, I'm not even sure if its allowed for them to represented by the same attorney since they are being named individually and not as a family unit.

3. With all the depositions and discovery that will be involved in a case with this many parties you could be looking at several years easily before the trial starts. Even simple trials with 2 parties usually take 6-12 months before going to trial. But, then again this is federal court so things might be a little different than what I'm used to at the Daley Center.

I'm curious whether or not Jiggs or Nort had any of their own money in this great 15% per month return fund.
