he was probably the only guy who kept my focus when it came to boxing in the late 90's. for whatever reason, I loved to watch him fight...

Not the smartest way to box but man that guy could throw down and wouldn't shy away from a slugfest. His wars with Mickey Ward were epic.

Police said 23-year-old Amanda Rodrigues was taken into custody after contradictions in her interrogation. Gattiā€™s body was found early Saturday in a hotel room at the Porto de Galinhas resort in northeastern Brazil.

The former junior welterweight champion was apparently strangled with the strap of a purse, which was found at the scene with blood stains, said Milena Saraiva, a spokeswoman for the Pernambuco state civil police. She told The Associated Press that the Canadian also had a head injury

Absolutely fascinating! She managed to kill him and a gun wasn't involved. This completely fucks everyones argument that if nutty broad didn't have a gun then McNair would be alive today.

Maybe she "coaxed" him into it. He was drunk.
She promised him a better orgasm by choking
him with the purse strap, but she just kept choking!

this is terrible news. arturo gatti was perhaps the most exciting boxer i have ever followed. i never missed his fights. his first fight against ivan robinson is one of my favorites. he was technically out-matched. robinson was cutting him up with jabs. but in the last round of the scheduled 10-rounder, with the atlantic city crowd going bananas, gatti starting landing these HUGE roundhouse punches in an attempt to steal that fight with a KO. he was pummeling robinson, who was tucked up just trying to survive, which, to his credit he did, but i believe if he had 20 more seconds or even less he would have pulled that one off. outstanding.

gatti got cut up real bad by a lot of fighters, and he was what he was: a brawler. he was fun to watch, and i am very sad to hear he is gone.

I remember when he fought one-handed for what seemed like half the match against Ward. Think that was their third fight if I remember correctly. By the way if that is his wife in those pictures above I'd let her strangle me.

Too soon?
