I was talking to a buddy of mine who is a die hard White Sox fan, and we both agreed that Beckham is going to be a special player on the south side for the next several years. My buddy kept saying that he reminded him of a young Ryne Sandberg.

What do you guys think? Who does Beckham remind you of?

I've heard Mac mention the name Tadahito Iguchi, who wore the same number as Gordon Beckham, #15, during the 2005 World Championship season. While I never saw Iguchi rack up a lot of homers when he was here playing at second base, he & Beckham seems to rack up a lot of doubles and seems to hit to the opposite field.

If that is what Beckham becomes then it will be a huge letdown.

RFDC, I hope it's not a letdown...Iguchi got some clutch hits in that '05 title season and then got dealt to Philadelphia & San Diego. He's not on a Major League roster as far as I know... :( Meanwhile, as much as I like Chris Getz at second base, I have this gut feeling that Beckham won't be at third base beyond next season...

Iguchi was a nice player, but Beckham can be much better.

Like Beckham, Keyser, Pedroia wears #15 and is an All-Star second baseman for the other kind of Sox in Boston...

Jeter.

Unflapable from the moment he got here. Charismatic. Gap power with .300 average ability. Even better with RISP. Solid but unspectacular D that will probably be overrated as he becomes a better known player.

I'm not sure if he has the horse cock Jeter is reputed to be carrying.

Tadahito Iguchi is currently manning second base for the Chiba Lotte Marines in Japan's Pacific League. The Lotte Marines are based in Chiba City, Japan and are managed by former New York Met and Texas Rangers manager Bobby Valentine. The Lotte Marines chief rivals are the feared Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters.

The 34 year old Tokyo-born Iguchi, sometimes called "Gooch" by his American teammates and media types, is currently sporting a .289 batting average for the last place Lotte Marines.

Didn't Gary Coleman's character "Arnold" have issues with "The Gooch" on several episodes of "Diff'rent Strokes"? I thought he stole his lunch...
