And I thought several of us around here have been pretty clear, you cannot judge his articles by his other media adventures.

I'm probably way in the minority, but I thought the show he did with Silvy made him more likable. And I always root for him to win ATH, but maybe that's because my meatballish-ness believes that it's a win for Chicago against the Boo Yahs...

Hatchet men have limited appeal. The Trib is desperate to hire this guy with his predictable BS. I cannot respect someone afraid to go into the clubhouse. Grow a pair buddy!

Why not? Do his nonsensical ramblings and transparent shit-stirring read better in print?

Apparently several around here think so. But I am sure you are right Frank, er I mean Dr. Ken. 8)

I'll be honest. I don't know that I've ever read one of his columns. Probably a couple times in a waiting room. I've always been a Tribune guy.

But, I've hated just about every opportunity I've had to watch or listen to the guy and I have no interest in reading anything he would write.

The doc has made a wise choice. There is more than enough anecdotal evidence for anyone of reasonable intelligence to be able to deduce that Jay's a joke.

And before any of you say "how can you make a judgement without actually reading it", I have a simplified posit for you, and it involves deductive reasoning.

Have you ever had your nuts squashed by a sliding glass door?

No? Well, how do you know for sure it doesn't make your pecker shoot Mike & Ike's and feel like an autumn breeze if you haven't actually experienced it?

Thanks, but I've heard enough about Mariotti via other sources to know I'd be willing to consider spending some quality time with a sliding glass door rather than read his horseshit.

Is that "clear enough" for the several of you?

If they really wanted to do something good, they should have hired back Bernie Lincicome.

He's out of work since his paper folded (paper folded - HA! - how cool is that?). He's the last columnist is Chicago that I made a point of reading.

I like Mariotti. But Doc has made a normal apt assumption.

I mean I dont care for Anderson Cooper or Larry Horse...What am I gonna run to their blogs to see if they suck less in print? Hell NO

Had I not elected the more vitriloic way to go, that would essentially have been my post instead. Bernie didn't have to spend most of his waking hours being a jackoff hoping it gets people to read his column.

Also, to those that say something along the lines of 'look at all the talk about Jay' - just because there's talk about someone doesn't mean we're reading his pieces, and thus we're not patronizing the newspaper itself or it's website. How, therefore, does the Tribune profit from people such as myself who purposefully avoid his column?

And Doug, I was agreeing with Doc ... I just thought I'd use something more substantive than "+1". :D
(you're still my 2nd-favorite sports-related Doug, and still way ahead of Dascenzo!)

yeah, and Britney Spears sells millions of albums. Just b/c something is "popular" doesn't make it good....and the 2nd hour was taped. It wasn't even live radio!

Don.
gotcha. Doug Flutie, Doug Williams....

He and TB Diddler's were good reads back in the day. Rosenbloom has been pretty good too. I haven't always agreed with their columns, but for the most part, they were pretty interesting.

Every once in a while I'll read a Rick Morrissey column but that's about it.

Has Greg Couch written anything of value since the Cubs/Premium Ticket Service story???
