I don't know if any of you have caught this show - I believe it is on TLC.

I caught my first episode of this show last night, which I believe is an off-spin of Obsession.

This show (and condition) is way disturbing. Apparently, there are people that go around to other peoples trash and take the most meaningless and worthless objects and store them in their houses like squirrels saving nuts for winter.

Some of the people they showed had no access to stairways or walkways or closets or showers due to the massive amount of shit that they had managed to forage away in every recess and corner of their houses.

Give it a spin if you get a chance and tell me if you don't have a burning desire to clean your house after watching it.

Dave, there is a Goodwill store on Washington near Racine. Every time I drop something off there I can't help but notice people hauling away absolute unnecessary crap. Pretty sure if you go over by their house you will see the same picture live.

Apparently, this is a legitimate mental/physiological condition that affects a number of people - I guess it is related or similar to a OCD type situation.

I actually grew up with the guy trying to help his Mom that lives in Shorewood Il. It is SAD on many levels...

My wife's grandfather had the same issue. When they sold their house, my father in law and I were cleaning out his garage and found calenders from the mid 80's and 15 year old issues of Barrons financial magazine.

Being a fellow headshaver, I will check it out. He seemed like he was legitimately frustrated and sad. It's a sad condition - one that seems to have no victims other than the delirium/euphoria it creates within the sufferer.

My mother in law has this. She has a two car garage filled floor to ceiling with boxes of nothing and a spare bedroom with the same. It was a bitch when the in laws moved because she wouldn't allow them to hire a mover so I spent three days hauling boxes. She watched me like a hawk as I was strongly advocating getting rid of stuff.

Tonight they clean a house that has a possum living with their collected junk. The rerun currently on air shows them cleaning a garage/basement with a shovel because a lot of the junk has degraded to the point that it will crumble if you try to pick it up. And they have mice.
