Right, they are both messengers, but Stone has a reason to be upset with the Cubs. yeah, he should man up and just let it go, but his axe to grind with the Cubs is legit. Maybe Marriotti's was too, in the sense that it sold papers, but its still 2 different cases here.
Right. They are different.
Mariotti found a niche and exploited as much as possible. White Sox people and fans were largely responsible for his success.
Who in the Hell is Jerry Reinsdorf to try and control what is said and written about the way he operates his sports franchises?
And he has his stooge Hawk Harrelson intimidate Mariotti verbally.
This town has been so weak for so many years mediawise......Owners of these teams have gotten pretty much a pass unless they were complete hopeless dweebs like Mike McCaskey...and the Tribune turns around and buys the Cubs....NO ACCOUNTABILITY to the paying fan....the fan can get pissed at "THE SUITS" or "The Tower"...but that is about it.....
When Sox fans were pissed at Reinsdorf, Mariotti expressed it in print for them...and Reinsdorf played into his hands by acting like the kid who the bully steals the lunch money from and having Harreslson pop off for him.
