This is a great concept for a board outing. Goose Island and Map Room seem to be better suited for the opinionated resident snobs.

Update on my New Glarus addiction.

The Dancing Man Wheat I found to be fairly disgusting. I'm not a big fan of a heavy clove flavor in my beer. I didn't finish it.

The Stone Soup also has cloves and ginger but it is more subtle and was pretty good. It was lighter and less cloudy.

Another bottle of the IPA tonight and I really enjoyed it. It was a nice follow-up to my bottle of Hop Juice. Coach, I recommend you trying it if you can get your hands on a bottle. I'm an IPA novice, but I find it to be quite good.

The Yokel was creamy but still fairly light. I didn't find it overly flavorful. I didn't prefer it but I'll enjoy what is left.

I'm having the Two Brother's Monarch tonight. Pretty good. Seems just right for a "summer brew".

I picked up a couple more bottles of Hop Juice today and saw the Two Brother's Moaten there which I think was just released the past few weeks. I thought about picking one up, just because, but I really don't like red ale so I passed.

For those Two Brothers fans, I read that Costco is going to start carrying some of their stuff starting 9/1.

Also, my last update on the New Glarus, I think I've found my favorite in Organic Revolution. 6.2% ABV, same as their IPA, but not as bitter.

So, to rank my New Glarus brews -

1. Organic Revolution
2. IPA
3. Spotted Cow
4. Imperial Saisson
5. Crack'd Wheat
6. Stone Soup
7. Yokel
8. Dancing Man Wheat
9. Berliner Weiss

If you don't like hoppy beers, put Spotted Cow on top and move the others down a notch.

I don't rank the Belgian Red as I don't really consider that beer but it would be around 3 or 4. The Golden Ale R&D is probably top of the list but I've yet to open the ones I've taken home yet.

This will be my last New Glarus plug. I promise. Just thought I'd sum up my mass purchase last month.

Finally picked up some Oberon (saw a mini keg at Whole Foods last sunday). Damn good beer.

Curious if anyone has tried Matilda by Goose Island? That is some delicious beer. Pricey, but worth it IMO.

Matilda is very good, I had it at their North and Clybourne pub. For the price, in retail, I would rather get Hop Juice.

Dr. Ken,
Did you try the Berliner Weiss, it's one of the Unplugged brews.
Not bad. I like it

There's a relatively new beer that I've seen advertised in the RedEye, and I believe Warren Buffett is one of the investors of this product called LandSHARK. I haven't had it yet, and unless I see it at places like Jewel, Dominick's or Binny's Beverage Depot, it's not available in all areas. LandSHARK recently took over as the corporate sponsor of what used to be called Joe Robbie Stadium and Pro Player Stadium where the Dolphins & Marlins play down in Miami...

I feel guilty correcting SHARK... but its Jimmy Buffett not Warren

I've had it but I didn't care for it. I think it is similar in style to the Imperial Saison which I thought was quite a bit better.

I am thinking of making a run for the border in a few weeks with the tora on a day off to pick some up. If I take 14 I can be in wisconsin in about 45 minutes, but not much going on in that area of wisconsin...or I can take the route through wilmot and be in the kenosha area in about an hour and 15 and have other things to do.
I was thinking of trying the cracked wheat and dancing wheat.

They have those stocked at Woodmans. Can't believe it takes you
that long to get up here. I used to work in Crystal Lake and I could
make it in about 50 minutes. I drive out to Woodstock a lot and that
is about the same.

The problem with the route hoffy used to take is that when you get closer to the hwy in wisconsin that the ramp and access route are under construction.

Flashback Ale from Boulder Brewing Co.

Pretty unique beer - its a brown ale (like a Newcastle) but hopped up like an IPA with Cascade hops (citrusy flavor). Pretty well balanced surprisngly with the roasted malt flavor of a brown ale. I am digging this one alot and recommend it just because I don't think I have had another beer even close to it.

Had another one from this Boulder Brewing Co. called Hazed and Infused which was also very good. If you like hops definitely check out their line of beers, seems like they dry hop every one of them! :D

Dr.Ken, I took your advice and tried the New Glarus I.P.A. last night. Good call.
Very flavorful and hearty. I may be calling on this one again this fall during some
Bears games. I love Woodmans. They had to have 10 different New Glarus to
choose from.

If you are into hoppy beers, just had a Euphoria Pale Ale. Don't let the name fool you - there is a ton of hops in this one but a malty sweetness. Nice blend of both. Comes in a can which was kinda cool. So it's not an IPA, called a pale ale, but hoppy enough to be an IPA. Confused? Just drink it.

I just grabbed a 6 of the new IPA, Heavy Handed. 6.7%

Also, as a Facebook fan, I've learned that they are ready to release their November artisan, Heavier Handed, which they place somewhere between IPA and double IPA. Also, it's been aged for a month in their new wooden Foudres that they put in a few months ago.

I'm having some more of the Dark Horse Raspberry Ale. Great beer.

Wish I could stomach the heavy-hopped brew, but I just can't do it.

For those of you who love IPAs, I would recommend Dogfish Head's 90 minute IPA. They sell it at Binnys. It has great balance between hops and malt. They also make a 60 minute that is suppose to be pretty good. I always get the 90 minute though, something about the 9% ABV that is smooth as can be is too appealing to pass up.

Yes no one has ever had that before. If you like a light beer may I recommend Miller Lite?
