So, basically, I'm looking for some suggestions. I'd like a cutaway if possible because my current acoustic is hard to play after the 14th and some solos I do require the 17th (like on Time for example) and it's frickin hard to do on my Acoustic, but I don't want to sacrifice intonation with a cutaway. Does it affect it much? I also am VERY reluctant to invest in an acoustic/electric as something just seems so.... wrong... about that, but I'd like to try one on a nice setup sometime if anyone can let me have a few chops at theirs. I could go to guitar center to do this but that place isn't really a good place to hear your instrument cleanly.

What kind of price range are you looking at? I have 4 acoustic guitar including a cutaway acoustic/electric and while some sound is compromised with it, it's no where near as much as you would think depending on the brand/price etc.

I'm not too worried about price. I want a quality cutaway. I'm looking for nice inlays on the fretboard too. High quality machine heads too.

Here are my two acoustic/electrics that have the cutaway:

Economic Option(first AE guitar) I have an AE18 which they apparently don't make anymore. This one looks fairly similar Acoustic Guitars-->AEL-->AE10LEBK...i bought it a 5/6 years ago for around 250 I think. Has decent sound, especially with the right set of strings. Love the elixir brand strings on this one. I generally like Ibanez guitars as a good compromise between affordability and quality
http://www.ibanez.com/product.aspx

This is my other one which is incredible, but much pricier.

http://www.martinguitar.com/guitars/cho ... =l&m=DC-1E

Amazing sound acoustic, but plugged in blows you away. This one will run you well over 1k though.

Your best bet it to go sit in the acoustic room in Guitar Center and play the day away and find what's comfortable for you. Taylor guitars also makes a really good product, I just happen to prefer Martin.

Do you have any recordings of that Martin?
Everytime I'm in the acoustic room at GC some douche is in there playing silent lucidity and I can't think straight with that shit going on

The price ain't as scary as it could be. I've been saving for a special Les Paul for some time now and have been budgeting for over 3k actually. When I went to go play it, well... it felt like I was cheating on my Fender. I realized that I love that goddamn guitar so much that I wouldn't enjoy playing another one. It's frickin neurotic I know.

Lol, it never fails to run into a douche in the acoustic room. I've heard more bad version of stairway to heaven there than I care to remember.

I unfortunately don't have any audio of me playing. Maybe try Youtube'ing a model number? I can't check since they block that at my office because it 'kills productivity'  suckers.

Doug: Ok there's a solid nod to the Washburn. That what yours looks like? I think I might be looking for something a little fancier, but sound is actually my top concern. Yeah, I'd have to sit and play it you have no idea until you actually sit down with one for a while. I might head up to that music store tomorrow.
And also, Dan I'll look for that martin as well. Try em all I guess.
I don't like getting recommendations from the guys at GC. I'd rather talk to you guys. Trusted musicians and Frank :P , just kidding frank you're damn good, actually.

yeah, that's it. give me a call after 4, i'll be home and live 5 minutes from there.

depends on what you want to do, i suppose. i love the martin dcx1e, but $650 for an acoustic that would get used in my living room....i would rather buy a cheapy squire and put new hardware and guts in it.

Well, I'd like to get the acoustic electric because I've put one of those acoustic pickup deals on my guitar and it really didn't work, and I've tried to mic thru my PA but it's really restrictive and I don't like the sound. also, I gots to hit that 19th fret a lot. I've got me a Epiphone acoustic for camping trips and sittin out back at the firepit but I need a performance/recordings acoustic and I think if I'm gonna spend the money I ought to get a cutaway acoustic/electric.

I've actually been thinking about this now.
The racist rants were the nuclear option. He's basically fired his load so to speak, so once this is over, how will he manage to gain more attention for himself? What's next you think?

You should write a column. You could call it
"Advice from human garbage" ought to be something the SunTimes would be interested in, heck, they already have North.

Yeah I wasn't real happy to read that it either Lipid.

But I guess that's what happens when you put people on pedestals.

I still listen but I have realized that sometimes that is what makes Mac Mac - he ain't perfect and never claims to be - but sometimes doesn't mind finding himself on the wrong end of the argument.

Perhaps he is not on the wrong side of anything. Perhaps he really isn't taking sides here, but acknowledging the fact that he appreciates what I bring to the radio program, without making any judgements of any kind, with reguards to this thread or what has been posted in it.

Degenerate...np matter how many times you SAY you are done with this thread, you just can't seem to stay away. Same with Darkie You two are hillarious.

SID-You advise ME to write a collumn for the Sun Times.....Now that actually qualifies as "Advice from human garbage" .

After reading your wisecrack, I thought you were a useless asshole, and I pointed it out. That's all.

I have, however, discovered I could in fact use something that only you can provide - your absence.

Now how about giving that a try, hmm?

Well, we can sum you up pretty quickly by looking at your sad stats. 1174 posts since May 29th 2009 and we can assume a few things.

1. lOSER, NO job , no friends and looking to be ackknowledged in the "Shoutout" section by Evil Jack.
2. You think by spending 16 hours a day here this gives you the right to call yourself an "IT " person and pass yourself off as actually having a job.
3. Your parents didn't pay attention to you as a kid, which by the way you still live with.
4. You Show up to remotes claiming to be Elmhurst Steve.
5. Your goal is to have 10,000 post by Labor day and have Jerry Lewis bring you on his Telethon and yell "Timpani"!
