too bad there wasn't some sort of Chat-like thing that we could have used to give our thoughts as the game was going on...

Pace looked slow and old, which is probably because he is...

Those refs were flag happy tonight.

That roughing the quarterback on Brown was bull, what type of penalty was that? Brown tackled the guy :? what the fuck was he supposed to do?

I'd have settled for the board to work. I've been waiting 2 hours to post those thoughts. at myself.

When did Hester not know where he was supposed to be tonight? He was lined up with Champ Bailey tonight. Yeah, he's not going to win that battle. But no one is, really.

As for the offense, they had pretty awful field position for most of the first half (5 yard drive aside, obviously). They were up 17-3 at halftime. The offense had a 98 yard drive and the defense gave up very little. Almost all encouraging signs.

I'm pretty sure I heard they are going to give qbs a belt with flags instead of trying to tackle them.

I think the first team D and O looked really good, I am pretty happy with where things are right now.

The Brown call was rather ridiculous. I'm more QB-protect-y than most fans and even I think that was kind of a joke. Collinsworth was right that it was a Brady reaction.

He looked out of place when they did that trick play when Forte threw the ball.

Cornerback had deep contain to the outside. Because of that, the route had to clown to the middle of the field, and the underneath man becomes the primary receiver. Even that's kind of deceptive, because if the cornerback kept deep outside contain then the instruction is not actually to check down, but to throw the damn ball away. It's basically a one-read route for both receiver and "QB". He was fine there.

17-3 halftime lead, Cutler was really impressive again. Forte looked good. Hester made a nice play. Olson looked good. Bennett played well. The D held the Donkeys to 3 points. Why is my statement a  ?

Yeah- I mean, they weren't facing the Joe Montana 49ers, but all went about as well as you could hope. Plus no injuries.

The offensive line was getting beat pretty badly I thought and Turner's playcalling is going to continue to be an issue. McBride isn't very good but I won't really worry until Tillman and Bowman get back.

1st half looked good.

But damn, Orton was so fuckin Orton, you know what I mean? It's not bad football, it's just not good football. 12/16 97y 0TD. That's a classic Orton halftime line.

I really like you Spaulding, but sometimes I think you just like to bitch about the Bears to hear yourself bitch, it seems like all you ever do. Are you happy with anything on this team?

I sure as shit enjoyed watching that blocked pass with him in another uniform, I'll say that.

I think the concern about Pace is fair. He wasn't as bad as he looked at times- he was generally good except for when he got beat, when he was really bad. He's just not impenetrable anymore. He'll give you solid play for about 6-8 games. I can't promise any more than that.

They still have some guard issues. I'm pretty high still on Beekman but the other slot is a rotating vortex of suck. Williams has looked good, and Kreutz is still Kreutz, even though he's on the decline.

the starters looked real good. the pa throw to clark was great. the o line wasn't great and pace was particularly bad. the defense looked good but they were facing a real bad offense without their best player and rookie.

McDaniels can't do that unless Orton plays really badly late in the season.

He could have just turned around, he had open space and could have sat there as Forte had time, but he just kept running, like a bad receiver would. Now I certainly don't expect him to make a play there, but he could have done something positive.

I don't, but she's right on the money with those comments. O line's gotta tighten it up big-time in the real games, and if the starting corners are out and we see McBride, you should be concerned.

I like you RFDC and I thought Matt and I had a better internet relationship than he thinks we do.

I am extremely happy with Jay Cutler and Matt Forte. The tight ends are very good. I'm one of the only people saying the Bears are okay with the receivers (including the TEs) they have. I'm still not giving up on Vasher - maybe the only one. I love Tillman. Payne impressed me tonight.

Oh, and you are better off hating MITC. 8)

He can be an ass, is a little intense about advertising, and some of his ideas are a little crazy but I think he is an alright guy. Funny sometimes.

Forgot to add I like th LBs except for the one in the middle.

No. Pace got beat a couple of times by Elvis. Elvis looked great tonight.
I am very pleased with what I saw tonight from the Bears starting O, D, Cuter, Forte & Olsen.

I kinda laughed when they showed the replay of the late hit on Cutler, Pace was even a few steps late pushing Dumervil after the play ended.

As for the starting Offense, I'd say they were hit and miss. They looked terrible backed up on the goal line but obviously looked awesome on the 2 minute drill.

WRs are explicitly told on gimmick plays such as that to just run the route. They're not supposed to break it off or run scramble drills or anything like that. Coaches don't want the RB having to make decisions as to where to go with the ball. Hester is supposed to hit the back corner of the end zone if it is vacated, and if not, the play is dead.
