I sometimes wonder how many former Super Bowl Champions are really needed at ESPN, but such is the case today. Tedy Bruschi, the 3-time Super Bowl Champion New England Patriot linebacker who just retired from the game, has joined ESPN as its latest talking head. The former #54 in New England blue, white & red has been hired by the "Worldwide Leader" as its latest analyst. He'll make his debut this Monday night on the network's "NFL Live" show, plus will be in Foxborough, MA for the first game of ESPN's "Monday Night Football" doubleheader between the Patriots & Buffalo Bills at Gillette Stadium, plus will make contributions to the latest ESPN regional Web site, ESPNBoston.com. Just what America needs!

How many convert into decent analysts? Their needs may be insatiable. I imagine Tedy has little to share with us.

Tedy Bruschi can't be any worse than...Emmitt Smith. Yeah, Emmitt could run through opposing defenses and cut some serious rug on "Dancing with the Stars", but media critics thought #22 in Dallas white & blue and Arizona crimson sucked when he on was the ESPN team.

I wonder how bad Terrell Buckley would be as an analyst.

Eric Dickerson may have been a really good running back during his playing days with the former Los Angeles Rams & Indianapolis Colts, but when ABC Sports hired him near the end of their run as the network of "Monday Night Football" about a decade ago, he was as brutal as Emmitt Smith, if not worse!

I don't know, I kinda liked Dickerson for some reason.

In the 40 year history of "Monday Night Football", who was worse? Eric Dickerson's butchering of the English language, Lisa Guerrero "working" the sidelines that one season, the disaster that was Dennis Miller & Dan Fouts, or Tony Kornheiser looking absolutely, positively bored sitting next to Ron Jaworski, Joe Theismann & Mike Tirico in the booth when ESPN replaced ABC Sports about 3 years ago? I don't think it was what Roone Arledge had in mind when he created the concept in 1970. By the way, moment of silence please for the longtime president of ABC News & Sports...Thank you.

Tony Kornheiser was so bored in that "Monday Night Football" booth the last 2 years, I think there were places other than the stadium that he, "Jaws" & Tirico did the game every week. I think that might explain why Tony's partner and colleague from the Washington Post, Chicago's own Mike Wilbon, frequently does "Pardon the Interruption" from somewhere other than the Atlantic Video Studios in Washington, DC.
