He just has to go. I understand he is now owed $20 million for the next 2 years and 99.9% of the time I would not agree with the meatball phrase of "Just get rid of him", but Milton Bradley is one of the very few guys in professional sports that works the "winning is contagious" in reverse!

I think the soonest you can hope for it is around the deadline next year. By then more than half his salary is paid and some desperate AL team looking for another Left handed bat will make a deal...you may STILL have to pick up some money but with only 15 mill left at that point its doable.

I wish you could do this with Soriano to the AL but im skeptical of that for a bunch of reasons.

Trading Zambrano in the off season might be ok. If you can get a monster deal for him. Whats he worth?

1 top prospect
1 major league ready starter
2 Low prospects

or is that way too much to ask?

If they could make that deal for Zambrano today I would probably take it.
Don't think you are going to get that much for him. If you can get back
another serviceable starter, a top prospect and maybe one other guy you
may be lucky. Should be interesting to see what happens. I am not
opposed to keeping him either if you don't feel you are getting enough.

Trade 'em all! If the Cubs can pay Luis Vizciano to lose games for the Indians and Yankees, and pay Jason Marquis to win games for the Rockies, they certainly can manage to pay Bradley and Soriano to DH in the AL.

ummm...I wonder who gave Milton Bradley that deal that still has the Cubs on the hook for 20M and 2 years? Maybe that guy should go too!

Hendry already doing damage control and comparing Bradley to Alou....so Bradley will be back next year and we will be marred in the same cr@p with him & Lou & Zambrono and little to no accountability within the organization.

Does Ricketts come in and make a statement...or does he come in and try not to rock the boat???

I can't believe they're not going to fire him. Even IF Ricketts plans on opening up the checkbook and bails out Hendry on his many mistakes I don't trust him to make the proper decisions. If it's a matter of signing the most expensive free agents on the market Hendry's your man but if you need to make 'smart baseball decisions' (which the cubs definitely will this off season) I wouldn't trust Hendry to make the correct calls.

Bradley is a headcase and not a good baseball player but at least he has a high OBP and can still hit a bit. The real problem contract on this team is Soriano. 6 more years of this and the team is much much better on the days he is not in the lineup. Complete liability against even decent pitching and lets not get started on that outfield D. With all of the other bad contracts there is at least a light at the end of the tunnel I mean even Miles comes off the books after one more year. But Soriano isn't even a servicable ballplayer and the Cubs are stuck with him for at least 5 more years when you can hopefully unload him to a desperate AL team in the last year of the deal.

A writer in Philly wrote an article about all the moves the Phils were able to make by not signing Soriano and allocating all that money to one player (though they would have 'only' offered 100M).

Next year writers in Chicago, will be writing about all the moves the Sux could have made, had they not claimed Rios and traded for Peavy.

And you will still be calling the Danny Mac Show in your endless quest to make a point that is either relevant or makes any sense at all.

The media wants Bradley and Zambranogone because they want a team of dick suckers.

The media loved those teams in the 90s because they were a bunch of media dick suckers.

Any player the media wants gone should be signed to 10 year contracts.

Those writers, locally and nationally, did the same thing in February and March of 2005.

Who's the genius who was stupid enough to sign Milton Bradley to a 3 year, $30 million deal after being an All-Star in Texas...as a designated hitter? That's Cubs General Manager Jim Hendry... If the Cubs can't get rid of Bradley in the offseason, Hendry has to go for this idiotic signing alone! If I was calling the shots on the North side, there's an Anaheim Angel who would've been not only more productive, but not as disruptive as Milton. His name is Bobby Abreu, and he'll be in the MLB Playoffs next month, while Hendry, Bradley, Lou Piniella and the underachieving Chicago National League Ballclub will have 101 years without a championship. Next time, DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

Shark-I was calling for Ibanez or Abreau last winter. It made no sense to pass up both, to sign a guy with a history of frequent injuries, on field meltdowns and low run production. Sure, he had a great batting average and on base Pct. last year in Texas, but he still did not drive in a lot of runs . Hell, he never has. The guy does not get the job done in the clutch. He's great with nobody on base though. Lou was right, he's a piece of crap.

Wrong on so many accounts....I am not a fan of Soriano, nor Bradley. I did not want either and have been critical of both consistently. Soriano initially for his selfish attitude at the plate (will not cut down on his swing with 2 strikes/ will not bunt or hit the other way, in situations that call for it) as well as his terrible defense. I knew that signing him would be a mistake, especially when he got older and his hitting skills declined. That decline happened a lot sooner than anyone might have guessed though. Bradley is a piece of crap, as Lou said. He never should have been signed, when Hendry had 2 better options-Ibanez and Abreau available.

The term losers, cannot be attached any longer to the Cubs by anyone with sense. They have been a winning team for the past few years and have made back to back playoff appearances as Central Division champions. Unfortunately there were changes made to last years 97 win team, that were ill advised and those changes as well as some down years by a few players like Soto Zambrano and Dempster, has resulted in a disappoining season. However, they will still likely finish with a winning record, in 2nd place. I notice you like to point out their division contains the Astros, Pirates and Reds. But you don't mention the Brewers or Cardinals??? Every division has weak teams, but the Cardinals are one of the league's truely elite teams in 2009 and the Brewers are a pretty good team, despite losing their 2 best starters in the off-season.

I'm not sure what the Ricketts family will do this winter to change anything with this team. But I grew up going to dozens of games each summer at Wrigley Field and there is no chance that I'll switch alliances to any other team. I can appreciate the way good teams play, so despite the fact that the Cardinals are the Cubs biggest rival, I can give them credit and appreciate them as a team, much as I did the Sux in 2005, when they won it all. I went to the 2nd game of the series they played against Boston, where Iguchi hit the 3 run homer, after Graffanino made the error. If a team is really good, I'll go see them play, even if they are not playing the Cubs, just because I love the game of baseball and appreciate teams that play the right way. The Cubs have some very good players and should be able to contend every year. I certainly hope that Hendry can rid himself of Bradley and maybe get a good SS, so they can move Theriot over to 2B, perhaps gey a real good CF'er, so they can move Fukadome back to RF. But with the guys they have already and fewer injuries, they should be able to contend already. They don't have to win a Championship for me to consider a season a good one. I expect them to be a winning team. I expect them to contend. Winning a Chamionship involves a lot of breaks to go the right way. That I hope for, but don't simply expect.

I have to back up Elmhurst "The Brand" Steve on the first part, he has been consistently against the star players of the Chicago Cubs. And look how Lee turned out compared to Micah Hoffpauir...

Steve, to Moint's point, yes, they have more wins than losses. They are a winning team, but they are not a champion. They will never be a champion. They have not been a champion for over a hundred years now. Soon there will be no one alive that will be able to even remember the last time then were in a world series.

1945 was the last time they were in the series. I think there are a lot of people alive who can recall that.

Yes I bet they do. You should thank them for the service they gave to this country, when you ask them about the 1945 series.
