Anyone who has basic cable or regular TV has probably done this: you're flipping through the guide and you see, say, "Rocky III" is on. You make a mental note of the station, check out your other options, and turn it on, only to realize it's on one of the Spanish stations. The question is, what movies are entertaining enough that you would forgo watching them in your native tongue over, say, "The Break Up" in the King's English? Mine:

Goodfellas: Seen it enough to know the plot and most of the dialogue, anyway. Worth watching just for the acting, visuals, and violence. The "What am I, a clown?" scene really lends itself well to Spanish.

Braveheart: Libredad! DIalogue is not a dealbreaker, here, either. So adaptable universally that Mel Gibson eventually stopped making movies in any living language entirely ("Apocolypto, "The Passion of the Christ")

Any Raiders of the Lost Ark movie: There's nothing particularly American or Anglo going on in these storylines anyway, just standard good v. evil stuff.

Terminator 2: This one actually benefits from the absence of the stupid plot.

It's a Wonderful Life: Any movie that you know verbatim is fun to watch in Spanish. If nothing else, you can appreciate the non verbal aspects of the acting all the more.

And Spanish dubbed Clint Eastwood generally kicks English speaking Clint Eastwood's ass.

Yours?

There are two channels that air movies dubbed in Spanish. One of them is Telefutura, which is owned by Univision, and you'll find that on WXTF 60 here in Chicago. The other is NBC Universal-owned Telemundo, which is WSNS 44, of course. Telemundo airs those movies on Sunday night, but Telefutura airs those movies all the time...In case anyone's interested, the 1991 version of "The Addams Family" airs tonight at 10:30p on Telefutura. I don't know if you really want to see and hear Raul Julia & Anjelica Huston portray the roles made famous between 1964-66 by John Astin & Carolyn Jones in the classic TV series, let alone in Spanish...

Total Recall is awesome in Spanish. People actually demonstrate against Spanish language TV in N.C. Damn crackers.

Exclamation, a Spanish version of "The Running Man", circa 1987, featuring Schwarzenegger and original "Family Feud" host Richard Dawson airs Sunday on Telefutura...

There is more than one Raiders of the Lost Ark movie? I'm confused...
