Could a modern '80s comedy classic be on the verge of a remake or a sequel? Believe it or not, New Line Cinema is said to be developing an update of "National Lampoon's Vacation". According to the Hollywood Reporter, this version of "Vacation" is said to focus on the Griswolds' son Rusty, now a father, taking his own family on a cross-country trip.

Chevy Chase & Beverly D'Angelo, who played the parents in the original John Hughes-written 1983 film, could be cast as Rusty's grandparents in what is believed to be the fifth "Vacation" comedy. While a very young Anthony Michael Hall starred in the original film as Rusty, it's unclear who would play a grown-up Rusty in this movie. The original film, which has aired countless times on broadcast & cable TV over the years, also starred Eugene Levy, the late John Candy and introduced moviegoers to Christie Brinkley. It also had a rockin' theme song, "Holiday Road", by Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham. Believe it or not, this would be the fifth such "Vacation" film if it came to fruition.

If there's no Chevy Chase, there's no use in watching it.

For what its worth I have been enjoying watching Chevy Chase on Community so far this season. Not my favorite show of all time but entertaining enough and its good to see Chevy getting work again.

I was looking forward to this show and was very disappointed. I love Joel Mchale on The Soup, but this show has just been bad for the most part. I've watched the first 3 episodes, and after last week I deleted it from my DVR list. Chevy Chase has been the only bright spot of the show. Im actually surprised that he still has it.

I keep forgetting to DVR this show - what night is it on?

I might give it a view despite DB's deleting of it. I also like Joel McHale alot.

Guys at my office are quoting it non stop. So I'm going to give it a try tonight. To be SHARK like, it's on at 7 tonight due to the hour long Office.

And 2nd the Chevy Chase and Vacation thoughts. It's getting to be that time of year for Christmas Vacation which makes me happy

Northside, CMT, which is DIRECTV 327, has been airing this 1989 holiday movie the last week or so...I'm not sure why, let alone when it'll be on again. :( I'd check CMT.com to find out...

SHARK, I wish you would go on vacation. From the board.

And I mean that with peace and love.

Agreed. I've been disappointed so far, but I like the scenes with Chase and McHale. Joel McHale is basically this generation's Chevy Chase.

I think you might be a little early on Joel McHale being this generation's Chevy Chase. Has he ever even been in a movie? Chevy has been in some iconic roles....Caddyshack, Fletch, the Vacations. If anything I might say that Ryan Reynolds is approaching Chevy Chase level status.

When talk of a new Fletch movie was started a few years ago he was going to be Fletch ,so I guess so. He now has a bright Green Future as Hal Jordan in next years Green Lantern.

I didn't explain that very well. He's nowhere near Chevy's level as far as movies go. I meant McHale is kind of doing the smug, asshole routine on Talk Soup that Chase did on SNL.

Factually speaking, Joel McHale hosts "The Soup", not "Talk Soup". It airs Fridays @ 9p on E!, with reruns all weekend and throughout the week and it's very, very funny.  "Talk Soup" was the show that basically put E! on the map in the '90s, and helped make the likes of Greg Kinnear, Roger Lodge, John Henson, Hal Sparks & Aisha Tyler household names. While there is a little bit of "Talk Soup" with a segment called "Chat Stew" featuring a few talk show highlights on "The Soup", there are spinoff series on E!'s sister networks as a result of the success of McHale's hit series. Before DIRECTV pulled the plug on VERSUS, they started a similar show called "Sports Soup" w/comic Matt Iseman last winter. Chris Hardwick, who used to host "Singled Out" with Chicago's own Jenny McCarthy on MTV in the late '90s, just launched a similar show called "Web Soup" on G4, DIRECTV 310. Last but not least, Style Network, DIRECTV 235, got into the "Soup" themselves with a show called "The Dish".

The best part of these movies were the great cameos they have had... Eric Idle, Wayne Newton, Sid Ceaser, Seigfried and Roy, Christine Brinkley, Juliette Lewis, Robbie Coltrane

i haven't laughed at a single joke i've seen on "community". maybe it's because the show oozes the desire to make you realize you should be laughing because what they're doing is clever and funny. but i find it...neither.

chevy chase is an asshole who was funny in the late 70's and early 80's. read "live from new york" and you'll see what a jag he was.

Chevy fell in the opening sketch before he said "Live from New York...It's Saturday Night!" in the early years of "SNL", circa 1975-77.

$9.99 via Kindle. I'm kind of intrigued by the reviews. Should I buy, W_Z?

Live From New York is good, but check out Saturday Night: A Backstage History Of Saturday Night Live if you truly want to know what a collossal douchebag Chevy Chase is. Talk about success and cocaine going to someone's head. He was universally hated by anyone involved with the show.

It's been moved to 7pm Thursdays, because 30 Rock is back this week after the Office.

I like Community. I thought last week's episode was one of the funniest things on tv all week. Not only are Chevy and Joel good, but John Oliver (British guy from the Daily Show) is also gold.
