Have not watched the whole thing, got in right at the start of Weekend Update, but 2 episodes in really seems to suck?

For the huge staff they have, the come up with some of the worst crap on TV.

The Italian talk show host character, Vinny,. isn't even funny and they keep bring it back? I think it is just lazy?

Does some Ivy league suckup sit in a meeting and actually say 'We should do a Vinny segment with Drew Barrymore"

Not saying everything sucks, Fred Armason does some decent stuff and weekend update in the past has been good, but overall, huge drop in quality. Espeically since Tina Faye left! I think she was the one who amde sure lame shit didn't make the air and the reuse of shitty characters didn't survive.

As a "comedy expert(??)",I know whats funny! A few weeks ago,Megan Fox was involved in one pretty funny sketch about "Russian Wives". Look it up on YOUTUBE. I missed most of this season, but thought I noticed an improvement last year in the sketch comedy. I actually crack up at the "MacGruber" stuff. I think it has improved from maybe 2 or 3 years ago. They also just lost the great comic who did Sean Connery & a host of other impressions. He left after 14 years on the show! Darrell Hammond was very good.

Add the Kristin Wigg skit "Gilly" to that list. Does anyone find that funny? The first time, maybe, but not over and over (the SNL way).

Seth Meyers really needs a partner for Update. The funnier moments always included him and Amy Pohler.

And as to the musical guests, I am definitely not up on a lot of current music, but when an artist is on the show, I expect to hear that person's current "hit," not some obscure upcoming release.

No, it sucked a bag of dicks when she was there too.

I like Kristen Wig, but that Gilly sketch is unbearable. A lot of them are too formulaic. Every once in a while there's a good sketch that makes the show worth watching.

For those of you who have not seen the sketch it goes like this
some guy gets hit with a tire iron
Teacher: Gilly??..... Gillllly.... Gilllllllllly... Gilllyy....
Gilly: barely audible sorry.

There is abolutely nothing remotely funny about this show anymore. As far as sketch comedy goes I am now resorting to watching the whitest kids you know unless old reruns of the state are on.

You're nuts. She presided over some of the unfunniest years in the history of that show.

When Tina Fey returned to "Saturday Night Live" last year to play Sarah Palin before the Presidential Election, "SNL" seemed to be temporarily back on track comedically. Unfortunately, "SNL" on the whole hasn't been funny for a long time...Even the reruns which air on E! from time to time aren't all that funny either.

SNL has always been more "miss" than "hit" during its entire 35 year run. I sum it up to these reasons:

1) skits are too long. a team of writers could come up with more ideas, so the ideas they do come up with don't drag on.
2) the repeated use of ideas that were funny maybe once, but just become redundant every other showing (MACGRUBER!)
3) guest host more often than not suck (Megan Fox the most recent example)
4) too many hacks in the cast (Amy Pohler, the fat curly-haired guy on there now, that chick who recently said "fuck" on-air, Joe Piscopo [sp?])
5) They pretend to be "cutting-edge", but are just schills for the corporate/political masters.

Joe Piscopo had a very good run on SNL before he decided to do roids and take his shirt off all the time. Unlike Tina Fey, he was a cast member during an SNL renaissance.

By the way, I'm old enough to remember when Piscopo not only did the late Frank Sinatra, but also did quite a spoof of ABC News' "Nightline" as Ted Koppel in a classic 1983 skit, GD. The one where "Buckwheat", played by Eddie Murphy, died and they spoofed it the way "Nightline" would've done it. Interestingly enough, Piscopo, Murphy, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Billy Crystal & Martin Short were among the stars part of a "SNL" time in the early to mid '80s that was funny and Dick Ebersol, now the chairman of NBC Sports, was actually "SNL's" executive producer.

Yeah, Andy Samberg is part of the current "SNL" cast, Harvey. It seems hard to believe, but Darrell Hammond, who played a mean "Sean Connery" and MSNBC's Chris Matthews among others, has announced he's leaving after 14 years on the show.

Hard to believe? He was there for FOURTEEN YEARS! He was a cast member, not the Pope.

Of course the rest of the show has been typically unfunny. I haven't even come close to cracking a smile, even at the so-called hillarious outtakes from old shows.

When I first turned it on, I thought it was a repeat. The Beauty and the Beast skit had some moments, but the rest has typically sucked.

God this show blows. They must be pumping nitrious oxide through the ventilation system in the studio.

Sponsored by Bud Light. They probably passed out many, many bottles to the audience before the show.
