I gave her a chance, but her updates are just cringe-inducing. It seems like someone just reading a script with no real knowledge about the names or events she's announcing and no real personality emanating from her voice. It was particularly noticeable today when she couldn't pronounce the old Rangers hitting coach on at least two occasions. Once, okay. A little blip the second time, still acceptable. But it was brutal. And then, out of the blue, I noticed Paruch so prominently because he gave such an effortless update after 1:00. Nothing special, but competent, which is more than what I hear from the morning updates.

She just seems over her head for some reason, and I'd never noticed her poor delivery so much until she was relegated to a voice-only position on the radio.

I don't know if part of the reason why is that she looks like former talk show host Jenny Jones, but Kerry Sayers has a face and voice for television, pure and simple. That's what Kerry did long before she started doing sports updates this summer on "Mully & Hanley" for Mark Grote and "The Danny Mac Show" on 670 The SCORE & 670thescore.com. I'll never fully understand why Comcast SportsNet decided not to renew her contract, let alone why other local news shops around Chicago have all but slammed the door shut in Kerry's face. I realize we've been in a recession, but come on!

Maybe she needs contacts or larger type for her reads?
She's awful. I can't remember one update without at least a misspoken word or awkward pause.

I don't mind her. I think she does a good job. Remember that the old #1 update guy couldn't get through a shift without numerous malaprops and stilted phrases. But this

It's not about erroneous statements. She can't read the copy. I wouldn't mind it as much if she had the Rogers/Ofman gene.
I like it when she interactions with the hosts. This just isn't one of her strong qualities.

Maybe her style is more suited to television. She doesn't have a "radio" sound to her delivery, I can tell that much. I don't know if it's necessarily bad, but it's different from usual update fare.

That's my biggest complaint. Sure, I've heard update men/women bungle words and phrases constantly over the years: no big deal. But you usually had a sense that they knew the basics, that they were reading something they already knew or had at least gathered or researched--not just reading random copy handed to them before going on air.

Remember when Robin Roberts of Fox read some story about Lynyrd Skynyrd a few years back and awkwardly pronounced the band name as "Line-Red" "Skine-" something or another, having never heard of them and reading the copy for the first time? That's the impression I often get much more subtly from a KS update.

I thought Jerry Lewis butchered Lynyrd Skynyrd's name during one of his many MDA telethons over the years...As for Robin Roberts, let's not forget she was an "ESPN SportsCenter" anchor before she shifted over to ABC News' "Good Morning America". Not an easy transition...

Was it Robin Robinson?

She was the co-anchor with Walter Jacobsen on the Fox 9:00 news a few years back before Walter got too drinky and drivey and was replaced by Mark Suppelsa, I believe.

Believe it or not, Robin Robinson IS STILL AT FOX32! Robin has been a fixture at WFLD since 1987 when they started their news operation, but you can't tell she's been there that long...Her current co-anchor is former FOX News Channel correspondent Jeff Goldblatt, who looks like Don Criqui without the gray...

the Score's not real good with female talent. Whoever reads the ads on the score (Rusty Scuffer's female equivilant) does so with this monotone voice with no inflection whatsoever. Makes the reads even worse than they originally were. Rough go...I know it's a throwaway job, but Rusty's quite good at it. He should give her some hints...

She of the perpetually stuffed up nose is the worst.

That's interesting, because I have the exact opposite problem with her. I could not care less about what see does during her updates, but I cringe and PTFB when she starts interacting with the mac and meatpants. She really doesn't add anything to the conversation IMO other than that she is a women. And it's not that I am sexist, but she just doesn't say anything interesting, or have an opinion that is worth being on the air.

Exactly how I feel. They try to portray her as the hot chick who knows about sports. But she's not hot enough for that title, plus I sincerely doubt her sport knowledge which is by far the biggest issue when she tries to interact with Mac/Spiegs. If they just let her do the reads then go away I wouldn't have a problem .

That's not all her fault. Some of the things they put her on to talk about push the conversation in that direction. They treat her like a woman.

She did a labor day show with Rosenbloom and it was some of the worst radio this town has ever produced. In between talking about the magazine spread Cutler did she predicted the Bears would go 10-4 this season. Rosenbloom didn't let it slide and asked her how they were going to do in the other 2 games. I try not to take sports talk radio very seriously but a women talking about mens sports is one of the biggest wastes of time I can imagine.

That's not too surprising. She filled in for Waddle & Silvy a few years back and it was probably just as bad. Why she gets any air time at all is surprising to me.

You'll be happy to know Mark Grote is doing updates this morning on both "Mully & Hanley" & "The Danny Mac Show".
