What are some of your favorite and least favorite tv theme songs?

For current shows, I really like Smallville. I also like Mad Men, it grew on me. I like the music for Intervention as well. As for older shows, gotta give it up for Greatest American Hero. And of course Cheers is probably at the top of most lists. One that I really liked, but I doubt it would make too many other people's list is Courtship of Eddie's Father......"people let me tell you about my best friend...."

For ones I don't like, not a fan of Dexter. For old school, gotta say that Love Boat was pretty weak.

Smallville is great...most new shows skip an opening song, that sucks.

older shows:
Hawaii 5-0
Mission:Impossible
Greatest American Hero
Rockford Files
Miami Vice
too many to mention

I used to think the intervention theme might be built to spill, but it wasn't.

The South Park theme is great, and rarely gets mentioned.

House is pretty great, as is the west wing. The best of all time was that Night court show with the saxophone? anyone know what I'm talking about?

And How can I forget this ingenuity of greatness: Ducktales

Worst of all time: Dinosaurs

I liked the use of Joan Jett's "Bad Reputation" in the opening of Freaks and Geeks, while the show lasted.

StreetDoc, Jack Elliott & Allyn Ferguson recorded that theme...By the way, "Sanford & Son" and the legendary Quincy Jones' music is an honorable mention...

I know. I just said that. Honorable mention nothing, it gets a top nod.

Chas, Stu Phillips and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra conducted the original "Galactica" theme, circa 1978. Stu also recorded the catchy theme of the original "Knight Rider". "Magnum, P.I." is one of many themes put together by Mike Post, along with "The Rockford Files", "The A Team", "Black Sheep Squadron", "Hardcastle & McCormick", "L.A. Law", "Hill Street Blues" & "Hunter" to name a few.

Cheers, and I always enjoyed the old-school "this old house" theme (not sure if they still use it; I believe it was an oboe or something). Edit: This one.
