What were the historical circumstances for the unprecedented ousting of these two mults? What is the ousting criteria under Big Fan's domain?

GoldenDomer racked up about 1,000 posts in 5 days, and also sent pretty much everyone here dozens of PM's. I wasn't around for Mao, but I agree that GoldenDomer is bannable.

What I mean by a regular is someone who posts here just about every day for 5-10 posts a day.....that's what I mean...For Example, Zizou was Mao; I don't really consider him a regular because while he is known, he doesn't post enough for me to consider him a regular. Or maybe he posts everyday in the soccer section and I don't notice.

Outing: general annoyance, specifically large amounts of spamming that rendered the board unreadable.

Banning: the same, including way more spamming, but also multiple PMs to many members of the board.

Neither of these cases are directly on point, since Juggs doesn't post in every section non-stop, but then again, there's never been a character specifically dedicated to following around board members and harassing them. I think the case for outing here is even stronger. But in both cases, the rationale is the same: by not outing or banning the person, you are making the board less readable as a whole and discouraging useful participants from taking part.

My Dear Jack,

As equally bad 70s characters and while being noted for being incredibly intelligent, I had truly hoped to read some prose here that would have made sense. After all a troll such as Juggs threatens our very existence on this board. To continue to allow this person to run amok without some censorship or at the very least a good beatdown, would be counterproductive to all of prosperity on said board. We are ridiculed and defamed et al, except for a few mults who have been deemed worthy of trampsing among the elitists of the board. The rest of us are relegated to occasional appearances in threads that call for us to be created. And even then we are treated as if someone just farted and waved to go away while people hold their noses in our presence.

I will continue to show you the respect that your kingship deserves here, but I ask you to please reconsider your position. Our lives depend on it and RPB's entertainment on a daily basis as well.

However, the bolded portion of your point doesn't hold water. At no point, unless a given poster purposefully and actively wishes to make it otherwise, is ANY account holder's "real persona" on display.

Also, and perhaps more importantly, there is no more or less accountability whether I post as Don Tiny, Fred Bilitnikoff, Krusher Kruschev, or Juggs (and again, no, I am not Juggs nor do I have any mults). I'll repeat and rephrase that .... there is no actual accountability assigned to anyone posting at CSFMB.

How is it more accountable for me to post as "Don Tiny" than it would be to post as (for example only) "Juggs"? Anyone can 'cowardly' hide behind any moniker they wish on the internet.

And so what if "Juggs" is banished? Nothing really prevents the same person making a new persona and starting it all over again. So BF gets to go on banning trips all over the board, while the person - assuming they have a brain - logs in with false IPs almost ad infinitum, making it actually much more difficult to reign the prick in.

There may be a case to be made for banning "Juggs", but I haven't seen it yet.

This board is full of people who like to dish it out but can't take it.

Maybe I didn't make my point very well - maybe my point wasn't very strong in the first place. But to rephrase it, I will attempt to clarify.

While yes you post as Don Tiny, you have a presence on the board as Don Tiny and you are known as Don Tiny, if one day you just suddenly decided to go apeshit on someone and calling them names and making references to their wives and children, etc., I would venture to say that your board experience would change for the worse. You would be given a pretty rough ride, much in the way that Steve in fact was.

My point was why would a "regular" subject themselves to that kind of scrutiny when they could log in as a nefarious mult and post whatever they want without fear or reprisal?

The first argument is that there's a deterrence factor. Most of the people here consider themselves as part of the CSFMB community. As such, there's certain rules of decency that attach to belonging to a community. I wouldn't create a mult that goes around insulting people, but I'd be more likely to do that than do it under my own moniker, which people on the board know me by. Most everyone has met everyone else in real life by this point, and even if they haven't and have no plans to do so, almost everyone participating here has an interest in continuing participating beyond mere harassment. A single outing or banning reinforces that deterrence.

The second argument is that there's a crude justice to outing. The Juggs character has been a complete asshole, and is hiding behind what is a very useful, and on the whole good, policy of not outing or banning mults (eliminating names =/= banning). If that person thought it was appropriate to mock someone else on the board, than it is appropriate that they be shamed into having to acknowledge that it was their behavior. If you want to talk sports or politics or whatever, and you've been revealed to be a complete and utter asshole, you're probably going to have to go somewhere else.

Finally, like you said, the punishment isn't that severe. It's not like you're having personal information revealed on the board, which I would argue is always per se beyond the pale. You're just being shamed into acknowledging your bad behavior, or being hindered from continuing it. That's not the end of free speech on the board. I don't even think it has much of a chilling effect.

I feel it too. And this is probably the reason why BF doesn't hand out the ban or the outing very often. Where do you draw the line is a very very tough question to answer.

Maybe it's best that BF just look at it on a case by case basis and use his judgment - I don't know.
