If you listen to either 670 The SCORE or WBBM Newsradio 780 for any long period of time, you may have heard Mark Grote doing the updates on both CBS Radio-owned stations. On WSCR, Grote does the "Scoreboard Updates" during "Mully & Hanley in the Morning" and occasionally gives Kerry Sayers a breather doing the updates on "The Danny Mac Show" during the week. On WBBM, Grote occasionally does the sports updates at :15 & :45 past the hour during the week and definitely on weekends when the Bears aren't playing. This Sunday, for the second weekend in a row, thanks in large part to a late Bears' kickoff, Grote & NBC5's Bruce Wolf will be teaming up on SportsRadio 670 for three hours of local sports talk between 9a-Noon. I ask you folks, when does Mark ever get a breather?

Actually SHARK, the average human being gets the following amounts of breaths in a given period:
12 times a minute
720 times an hour

17,280 times a day

120,960 times a week over 52 weeks

Of course, Im assuming Mark Grote is an average human being.

    I was kidding at the end, but I'm amazed Grote continues to get the kind of workload between 'SCR & 'BBM. Keep in mind Mark had his jaw wired shut for a time earlier this year...

I assume budgets are tight so they are probably cutting hours where they can. Update guys are likely one of the places. For example, I dont hear "My Guy!" Mike Esposito much any more.

Puckhead, you are correct about budgets being tightened and hours being cut. The Chris Chelios-looking Mike Esposito is usually heard weekends on 670, and I think he'll be doing updates tomorrow during both the Grote/Wolf show & the Hub Arkush/Dan Hampton pregame show before the Bears/Bengals' game. "Espo" as he's known did the "Scoreboard Updates" the other night during Miller Lite's "Top Draft Show" that LoHo and the Bears' Israel Idonije did at Brownstone.

 Chris Chelios, eh? I used to know someone in his family from back in high school. One day on Facebook I put two and two together as to who Mike Esposito actually was. If I ever run into him, I'll let him know the resemblence.

It's just an observation on my part after looking at Mike Esposito's photo & profile on 670thescore.com, Puckhead. I'm not insulting "Espo" when I think of Chelios...As Comcast SportsNet's Luke Stuckmeyer would say, "They Luke so much alike, they might be twins." I was a little surprised that "Espo" or even Connor McKnight wasn't doing updates tonight when Jason Goff was holding court.

I didn't read a single line herin after a the first half of Shark's post, repeated by Puckhead's new avatar, then repeated the cycle thrice in a hypnotic rhythm.
