JD is actually a very good host. He and Hood have very listenable shows when they get together. Usually, when they team Hood up he loses something because he interacts so well with the callers when he's flying solo, but JD seems to get him pumped up as well.

Look what I noticed today on the espn1000.com site:
Quote:
Salisbury, a former standout quarterback for USC, began his NFL career as a walk-on and parleyed it into an illustrious 10-year NFL career, most of which with the Minnesota Vikings.

If his career was illustrious, then I want to know who's career is average.

Yeah I agree. This first segment was pretty good. Rosie at least has a guy that won't jump all over his words and ramble on with stupidity.

I will never understand this boards hard on for Dickerson. The guy is boring and uninteresting. His story telling sucks (10 minutes to tell me Berman isn't a nice person). I have begrudgling listened to him and I have no memorable moments. I assume his "Best of" would be dead air. Please tell me a memorable JD bit on air. What am I not seeing here?

I've been critical of JD him in the past. I guess he just sounds better today because he's not Sean.

JD isn't the most exciting person in the world, Oz. What he is a solid reporter and a servicable host. JD & Hood put on a good show because they interact well with each other and the callers. Which is more than I can say for the current 9-12 show. I would much rather listen to JD & Hood than the steaming pile of fecal matter that is Salisbury & Rosenbloom. I doubt this change would ever be made, but I can dream....

I honestly have not listened to much sports radio in the last month (just getting sick of it, on both stations). I do admit that I was listening to JD and Hood on Tuesday night for a while though... they do work well together, they got the chemistry, and they do make a great show.

I'm a Silvy fan, but I think it's time he gets a new co-host. I think Marc Silverman is at his best when he has a bit of an edge to him, or at least has to be on defense sometimes, like when he was on with Mariotti or Mach that one time. To me, Carmen makes an ok host on the weekend, but I think his talents come at doing SportsCenter and reporting. His Bulls pre and post game stuff was great.

Very nice email Woodridge. You could tell Rosie took great pleasure in reading that. For those who missed it Woody emailed them taking a couple of shots at Seany Cakes.

WR, Rosey just read your email and had a nice chuckle at the end of it when you wrote something like "I don't know how you deal with Sean every day. I really don't".

Guys,
Show couldn't sound better with JD filling in today for Sean "AM I HOT" Salisbury. I'm looking for the Bears to use tight ends in their drives tonight. As much as we all make fun of Desmond Clark and hoped for a tight end in the draft, have we really seen any real committment to even use a tight end as a receiver? No, we haven't. I think it's funny we all dis Clark, when in reality he really hasn't had many oppurtunities to fail. He's had a season with 51 catches and six touchdowns with, get this, Brian Griese as his quarterback in 2001. I've heard out of Ron Turner and others that they plan to use the tight end more as an offensive threat. So tonight I want to see if the Bears coaching staff is full of you know what or we'll see 5-6 balls thrown the way of a tight end tonight. This could be especially important for a still inexperienced guy like Grossman and could be quite the weapon for Griese who found Clarks hands many time throughout the 2001 season. What do you guys think?

WOODRIDGE RYAN

PS - Rosey, you are by far the better half of this show. I feel for you like you wouldn't believe. I don't know how you do it everyday. I honestly don't.

Absolutely

However, I do believe those comments to be true. It's annoying as hell that Turner doesn't even allow a tight end to make a difference on offense. Rosey was all about the Sean comments. Anything to fuel the fire. I did this a couple months ago with like 4 or 5 other people when Sean was out and then the production crew did a cold open of their show the following day with every e-mailer saying great show without Sean. Love it. F him. He'd be on my top 5 people I'd like to punch in the face. Granted the old fat bastard would probably kick my ass in the end, but damn that punch would feel real good. :D

I think Rosie is a talent. It was much better with Jd because he listened to Rosie. He let Rosie set up his jokes and deleiver them. With Sean there is no time to let the show breath. Because he says something and while Rosie speaks he just thinks of the next thing he's gonna say. Sean is constantly stepping over Rosie and his humor. Sean is such a douchbag. He's the exact defention of a Jack Ass.

Whatever the case, these two need to be split up. It seems that the show is significantly better when there is a fill in for either Rosey or Sean.

Couldn't agree more. As much of an asshole Sean is, he is a much better host with John Clayton. And like I said from the start, I've always enjoyed his TV work. But with this show, I now know the true Sean Salisbury...ugh

Dickerson seems like a local version of a national ESPN guy...boring and pretty average. I don't know why they need to keep both Dickerson and Defalco around...they're the same guy IMO.

Your right JD & Defalco are the same. They both have pretty clean verbal skills. That's half the battle in radio. But neither say anything unique or of substance. It's pretty much stating the obvious and they're both afraid to step out. Both would make good TV anchor talking heads I think. But pretty vanilla when it comes to radio.

Sean is not hot. His love parents could be Michael Rappaport and George Hamilton. Punch him in the face. It could be an improvement.
