Yep that was vintage season 1 McNulty. Last episode next week. Hope it comes on demand early like the rest.

okay... I have a really dopey question, so I apologize in advance.

Why did the Coroner switch body tags on Omar's corpse?

Much obliged.

i think it was just to show how irrelevant his death was in the greater scheme of things. his body was misidentified by whoever put the tag there, so the coroner caught the mistake and put it right.

Can't wait for tonights episode, though I have read some spoilers and know what will happen, it will still be great. Read that the last episode won't be released OnDemand, so you have to wait til Sunday, but it will be 90 minutes long.

Doesnt this show make CSI and Law and Order look like Romper Room? I for the life of me cant figure out why they dont win awards. It really shows what they know. They're idots, dont watch or are two frightened by the reality of a world they dont believe exists so they put their head in the sand. Shame on them and shame on Greggs!

No advance viewing this week. I guess HBO made that clear before the season started but I do not recall it. I've heard several rumors surrounding the fates of central characters but don't put too much stock into them. Great show, one of the best ever, but this last season was rushed in my opinion.

Great ending. Michael as the new Omar. Chesse getting his. Marlo trying to go straight. Left it open for another season or movie down the road possibly. Now with Sopranos and The Wire ending, I got a feeling Entourage is close to having their finale also.

Decent finale. I agree that they did leave it open to be continued. Anyone else notice this theme that nothing ever changes but the faces? Everything is moving in cycles. Not only is Michael the new Omar, but Sydnor is the new McNulty and Dukie is the new Bubbles. And it looked as if Marlo was the new Stringer for a bit there.

And don't forget about how the new police chief is just as lazy and corrupt as the old police chief.

And Chris is the new 'Bey. I was worried about this season for a bit, but this series has clearly secured the title of the best in the history of the format, IMO.

I just watched all 5 seasons on Netflix in about 2 months. What an amazing show. This thing was hyped up to me for years by reading things online about it. I expected to be disappointed because it wouldn't be as good as I built it up to be but it was.

Season 1 and 3 were the best in my opinion but the whole show was solid.

What I really enjoyed was how it supposedly captured the essence of living in a low income area. I didn't live in a mansion growing up but this gave an up close and personal view of what life is like. I'd been to plenty of areas similar to this but I'd only be there for a few hours or so and then head back.

Season 5 got a little bit unbelievable but it was pretty damn good anyways.

This is the first series I can ever remember where I want to get the dvds and rewatch them.

Should I take the message of the show that the more things change the more they stay the same is that the situation is virtually hopeless? Obviously I know that crime will always be a problem but no matter what is done things will still stay the same?

There's a lot of mythic fatalism in The Wire, but I do believe there's a call to action inherent in the show. It's all about doing whatever you can, and doing it locally. I think what you see happening in Detroit and in New Orleans (setting of David Simon's new show), where people are trying to pull together to do good for their community, that sort of thing is of great value given the context of what we're going through as a nation. The "good life" is being redefined every day.

Same here, I was told for years I had to watch this show as I never had HBO back in the day.

I finally rented the dvd's this summer just to shut my friends up and expected the "over-hype" to kill the enjoyment...

Final Review: My favorite show (drama) of all time.......for sooo may reasons. I also went and watched The Corner from David Simon which was good , but no wire.

Also thought it was great that all of these actors I didn't know were popping up on other shows I like...

I had no idea who Stringer Bell was when he was on The Office, and Michael's girlfriend was Beadie. then i saw The Wire and it blew me away thinking back about the office....then I watched all of Oz and my head exploded due to all of the same actor crossover from The Wire.

Everyone seems to have their favorite season. I was a little dissappointed in season 4 (Still awesome, just not the best)

I think Season 3 was the best

Stringer and Avon's storyline was the best

I actually just finished watching all of The Wire because I had free HBO Go for a few months and it is phenomenal. I went in thinking it was going to be impossible for it to live up to all of the hype I heard about it but its a great show and Bunk is one of the most entertaining characters on any show ever.

Most memorable scenes for me so far

Kema getting shot
D'Angelo's "suicide"
Prez shooting the cop
Stringer telling Avon about D
Omar and Mouzzone's standoff

Yeah, mind blown watching the entire series. Love how they considered a sixth season on the influence of Mexican immigration on the US, but didn't feel they could do it justice like other aspects of urban life.

Treme is good (love the music) not great, and I'm 4 eps into The Corner and it's damn good.

Lester was a great character.

Like everyone else I didn't think this show would be able to live up the hype, but it did.
