Any time you root for a former Bear to be hired as a coach, you are going to here the "M" word. But the last time the Bears hired a former player as head coach it worked out pretty damn well.

I would prefer Harbaugh over Chico. I want an offensive minded head coach for once.

I'm not rooting for Harbaugh. I said that, if you twisted my arm, he'd be my pick. That's a very loose preference. He's not my avatar yet.

Besides, someone, call me a meatball. I dare you.

I don't think I've won an avatar challenge yet. But when I do, it will be sweet, and NSFW.

I'd be happy to challenge you again on the Superbowl, assuming we could work out a line we could both live with.

I wanted them to fix the line for a couple years. I'm pretty excited about Cutler.

I would lose my freaking mind if they hired Haurbaugh. You would see a new level of meatballery and anger. I'd become a Fudge fan.

pittsburgh fans have always been the most obnoxious but also most represented at sports bars i've gone to, even on the east coast. they are literally everywhere, and swarm like hornets. they bring their terrible towels with them to bars and whip them around when their team scores an extra point, or makes a first down.

i don't think i've ever been in a sports bar where the steelers fans weren't the most loud in the place. except capp's, because it was only bears fans there. and two packers fans.

Cowhers insane job security is more due to the Rooney's. Not the fans. The fans put up with it because they've had a tremendous amount of success.

Speaking of ex-Bears as head coaching candidates for the beloved...what about Jeff Fisher?

I think Cowher likes it in the confines of the CBS studio...

I think if John Fox is fired in Carolina, that may be the job Cowher wants.

I been in the KC area the last few days, and tuned into some of their sports talk radio, and it was pretty funny. One of the most comment calls they took from fans complaining about the Chiefs was that they thought Haley was clueless as a head coach because he screamed and yelled too much and looked like he was completely out of control.

Our fans bitch and moan because Lovie does not scream and yell and they bitch because theirs does. Fans are sure crazy.

Well, the KC fans are right...Haley doesn't have a clue as head coach...& he doesn't deserve to be a head coach. The similarity between the Chiefs & the Bears is that both teams are badly coached.
Again, having fire & passion doesn't make you a good coach...but a good coach with fire & passion is a bonus & certainly more enjoyable as a fan.

No. Ditka's act got tiresome at the end. Wins are all that matter.

Yes he did but I was referring to the rants in the post-super bowl mediocre years. They got old.

Quote:
The Bears started 4–0 in 1989, but a series of last second losses eventually led to a complete meltdown at the end of the season as the Bears finished 6–10. The Bears rallied to win a weak Central Division in 1990 and make the playoffs as a wildcard in 1991, but were eliminated convincingly in the early rounds. After dropping to 5–11 in the 1992 season, the Bears fired Ditka.

...On another occasion in 1987, he threw an enormous piece of chewing gum at a San Francisco 49ers fan who had heckled and thrown a drink at him during a Monday night match-up[5]. In 2007, a popular YouTube video showed 9 minutes worth of "highlights" from Ditka's various press conferences during the late 1980s as he jousted with reporters and (on occasions) passing fans; included were rants in which he shouted to one heckler "See that, that's your IQ buddy - ZERO!" and one instance when a reporter noted that Ditka seemed upset. A visibly furious Ditka responded without making eye contact, "I've never been upset in my life".

Fire and Passion may be fun when you are winning but when you are loosing it is just dumb.

But it sure makes a bad team at least somewhat entertaining.

I don't want Lovie to piss fire and brimstone on the sidelines, but I just wish he were tad more animated. Half the time they show him on TV, he is staring up at the scoreboard looking like he just got off of a short yellow bus.

Which current NFL Head Coach's sideline demeanor would you prefer?

Bill Belichick? Looks homeless
Dick Jauron? DOA
Tom Caughlin? His hang-dog look reminds me of Deputy Dawg
Wade Phillips? Looks like Ted Kennedy reincarnated
Josh McDaniels? Too busy practicing to outdo Tom Cruise's romp on Oprah's sofa
Tom Cable? Appears like he just lost a bar fight (which he probably did)
Brad Childress? Don't know - Seems like he is always hiding behind his laminated card

Sideline demeanor has absolutely nothing to do with coaching ability. To suggest otherwise just demonstrates a lack of understanding of what a football coaches job is.
