I want the Yankees to lose as much as anyone, but it is one game. Let's not get ahead of things.

This thread would be better with a spSHARK recap of the game/broadcast highlights...

That takes too much time. It took me 15 minutes to come up with that SPSHARK post earlier....I'll leave it to the, um, "professional".

My mistake. I thought I saw you talking trash with Stoneroses.

Well, um yeah, your Giants suck.

(Not really...)

As a Cubs fan, I would think you would understand the pain of never seeing your team win a championship. I hope my Yankees finally put one on the board and make the wait since June worth it.

Notice that Girardi pulled CC Sabathia early to save him for Game 4. Manuel screwed up sending Lee back out there to run up his pitch count in the 9th.

I'd rather the Phillies--or anyone but the Yankees--win, but it's a 7 game series and Girardi is managing that way, Manuel managed last night like that game was the series.

I agree with everything Charlie did. A two run lead is nothing if you don't trust your bullpen. Win today, worry about tomorrow tomorrow.

It was 4-0 going into the 8th and 6-0 going into the 9th.

With that said, I dont think Lee is the type of pitcher who wears down. He can still probably pitch whenever needed.

I think after 8. You take him out.

Phillies had a 6-0 lead when Manuel sent Lee back out there for the bottom of the 9th. And Lee had been sitting a long time between the bottom of the 8th and bottom of the 9th due to all the Phillies scoring and NYY pitching changes.

yes, they were up by more later in the game. My bad. But Lee's out pitch was his change, and I don't think a couple of innings of extra work will fuss with that...

Hopefully Lee's no worse for wear his next time out. I don't know Lee's history on short rest (if it comes to the Phillies wanting Lee to go Game 4 against CC on short rest) and how throwing Lee out there for what turned out to be his longest inning of work would impact a short-rest start next time out.

I just didn't see the benefit to the Phillies in the series as a whole of having Lee back out there in the bottom of the 9th with a 6-0 lead--other than sewing up last night's win, but if you can't trust your BP to get 3 outs with a 6 run lead...you're probably home watching last night's game and not playing in the World Series.

I think Girardi sorta threw in the towel for last night's game by pulling CC after 7 innings with only a 0-2 deficit. Maybe he figured that with the way Lee was dealing there was little chance of the Yankees winning last night and decided save his Ace for Game 4 and possibly Game 7, cuz CC has well-below his usual pitch count for a start.

CC's a horse. But I guess it makes sense to pull him with a six run loss. I was watching more NBA than baseball, so I didn't realize it was so large a spread. My bad.

It's a great contrast in managerial styles between Girardi's by the book stats and matchups managing and Charlie Manuel standing over there with a freaking batting glove on going "this guy's doing great, let's ride him another inning and two".

What if they had a baseball season that ended in November that no one around here gave a fuck about after June 30?
You mean they did?????
