well not really. Most consider moss, harrison, carter great wr's but they aren't/weren't good blockers really. i dont remember ever seeing marshall play like this. We'll know soon enough if he's sincere

FF, normally I consider you to be one of the most objective and bright posters around here, especially when talking NFL and hoops. But on this one right here, you are completely off your rocker. He is not great in 6 games. He has led his team to win 6 games, there is no way you can be great in just 6 games. So if the Bronocos lose the next 6 games in a row, will he still be great? What if they finish the season at 8-8 or 9-7, is he still great?

I agree with Favre Fan about greatness, it can happen after one game, its just hard to tell usually. LeBron was great in his first game.

No doubt he is doing a real good job, and I guess you can say he has been great. 6 games is just a pretty small sample size though, isn't it? But IMO there is a huge difference in saying that, and proclaiming that he is a great coach. To be a great coach you have to do great things over a long period of time. Rex Grossman was "great" for 6 games too, does that mean he is a great player?

I guess so. But there are definitely people that would have told you LeBron "isnt great yet" "lets see him do it for a while" in his rooke year. He was clearly great after his first game.

Im just saying the greatness was always there no matter when people decided it was long enough to recognize.

For another bad analogy
If you think Tarantino is great after seeing Reservoir Dogs, some people may have said, I wanna see him do more.

After a couple more movies that person may buy Tarantino as "great". This doesnt change the greatness level of Resorvoir Dogs.

it's really not apples and oranges though. A coach can be great right away just like a player can. It just takes longer to recognize a coach being great. Like i said, i might end up being wrong but i dont think i am

Well yeah, but the same could be said of football players and basketball players. Right away AP and LeBron were great, but they used different skill sets to be great. Coaches arent too different. Not all coaches magically become great just from getting to a certain number of games coached. Like I said, some people just take longer than others to recognize it. Andy Reid has a very good record for the better part of a decade. Is he a great coach? I dont think so. Not everything can be defined by wins and losses and time span of coaching. Sometimes you have to think a bit outside the box and not just look at the black and white stats and facts to analyze someone.

When he was traded to the Bears for Orkman and a 1st rounder, we fans were sold a bill of goods with such hyperbole from the Chicago media (B & B especially) that we were getting the second coming of Tom Brady, Brett Favre, Troy Aikman, etc, etc. I for one was extremely shocked and hopeful that the Bears had the piece of the puzzle that was missing for a long time. I thought this team could come out of the box winning and make a push to the playoffs and beyond.

After six games it is obvious the Bears have yet again FAILED to get everything right with regards to bringing in competent personnel to protect this new centerpiece and due to that are causing Cutler to feel he must make every play in order to win. Unless something drastic happens in the off-season the Bears will ruin Cutler either physically and/or mentally. I forsee a "Pro-Bowl" QB turning into an average QB with a strong arm and a strong propensity to make bad plays, i.e. interceptions. Yes he is young, but a bad team can ruin a good QB or one that was highly touted like Joey Harrington or David Carr (could be a bad example, but these two examples are what first popped into my mind).

I'm not watching the game on Sunday because this game means nothing, unless the Bears lose.

The most recent loss MUST cause a change in thinking within the Bears organization. They need to make some big moves in the off season in order to protect Cutler from injury and from himself. Who do I want? I don't know yet but a new LT or RT would be great along with some interior offensive lineman.

Jay Cutler isn't really playing that much different than he did in Denver.

He's probably going to finish this season with about 25 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. The yardage may be lower.

I think people overrated his one pro bowl appearance. Just remember that Brian Griese went to a pro bowl also in Denver.

The Bears aren't ruining Jay Cutler. Jay Cutler still has a lot of room for improvement. If he does then the future will be great. If he doesn't then a lot of people are going to be mad at him.
