This is playing at Cantera.

I have a dilemma. I want to see this. But from what I've read, and what I've seen, it might scare the absolute daylights out of me. I'm susceptible to this kind of stuff. "Blair Witch" left me scared sheetless for weeks. "The Exorcist" and "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" have given me sleepless nights as well.

However, I know this movie is gaining popularity and I feel it is my film critic duty to see it.

I am off tomorrow. It's playing all day long. I have a chance to see it. But I have to work the next day...should I risk it?

Hm...

I thought the Blair Witch sucked and the Emily Rose movie was boring. But I've never actually seen a movie that genuinely scared me. I wish I did. I just dont get that emotion really watching movies.

They should have called it the Blur Witch. I couldn't see shit with that movie and I felt like ralphing halfway thru from the jiggle cam. Oh, and it blew. I left that movie pissed.

blair witch wasn't a great *movie*. but i have never been more disturbed by anything else, as far as it reaching into my most vulnerable sensibilities. i am absurdly scared of the paranormal for some reason.

I also get pretty scared watching some of these "unknown forces" flicks. I can sit through any slasher movie you throw at me, but I think I am more afraid of the whole "uncertainty" aspect.

Same with me. Maybe we can go together and hug each other through the dark lonely night.

Seriously though, I can laugh at the movies while I'm there and enjoy the thrill and not be scared when I walk out, but late at night I think about it and scare myself awake the rest of the night.

I'm thinking about cutting out of work early to catch this as there is not a chance in the world anyone else in my house will watch it.

that was more interesting than creepy. then again i had the sound off. were there any eerie noises?

the thing about "paranormal activity" that i'm pretty sure will keep me up at night is when the ghost(s) start to mess with the couple; one possesses the woman, i believe...i heard it just keeps getting creepier and creepier.

-Pendulous breasts on a chubby girl in a muscle t shirt for 90% of the movie put me into a trance. I'm looking forward to seeing those warlocks let loose in a mainstream film in the future.

-I'm willing to let some things slip by when I hear it was made on a small budget. Still, why go with a Hollywood ending when you don't have a Hollywood budget?

-I assume the reason for point of view cameras is to increase the likliehood that the viewer will associate more closely with the person holding the camera or even place himself in the situation. Still, the male lead was too dumb and insulting to his mate that it would be impossible for a viewer to place himself in the guys shoes. Male Cubs fans will feel an immediate and lasting connection to him.

Yes, I also was in love with those bitties. I was really hoping she would of let the camera stay on for a session....

I read somewhere online that Speilberg suggested the ending after he seen the first ending at the Indie's.

I thought it was pretty good and pretty creepy. Not that I was scared at any point during the flick, however, chills down my spine happened more than once. I went to the Hodgkin's thetere and got there at 9 for a 9:40 show...sat in the third row. I can't believe I was there 40 mintues prior and still had a horse shit seat. Also girl in row in front of me was freaking out the whole movie and puked all over the floor with about 10 minutes to go.

-after battling the more mundane forces of evil, I cut out of work early and saw it in a near empty theater. I think empty theaters make horror movies scarier. Still, I wouldn't say I was scared at any point.

-i thought the thing the entity hid in the attic was her underwear...i laughed out loud

-SPOILER- fuck Speilberg. that ending was straight out of the second blair witch movie. I could have been filled with more doom and gloom if nothing came upstairs, the tape ran out and then they overlaid the post script. The voice change during the day was pure Hollywood as well. The only way that ending adds to the scare is if you can really believe she is still out there...which I could not. It took it from a first person account to a made up story for me.

Thinking about this more, if they took out the supernatural events, this would make for a great comedic love story about a guy who doesn't want to get married but cannot dump his girlfriend.

I'm TOTALLY with you W_Z, all of those movies really got to me to. Probably because they seemed somewhat realistic and you don't really "see" the evil. Blair Witch used the power of suggestion and atmosphere to mess with you. I had a hard time getting to sleep after Blair Witch. Certainly not a good movie (in terms of plot, character development), but certainly elicits an extreme emotion (fear), which is what art is supposed to do, right?

i had the misfortune of seeing it in the theatre.

wasn't as atrocious as "crow II" as far as bad and unnecessary sequels, but was pretty bad.

my advice to you would be to tell people you're just not into these kinds of movies.

because of your bias, i am throwing out your criticism of PA  ; however, i am not going to see this movie.

i have enough issues getting to sleep.

i didn't really have a bias going in and actually wanted to see it. I was excited about all the reviews for it. For the life of me i cant figure out how anyone would have found this movie slightly scary

blair witch was way scarier. I kept hearing this was better and legitimately frightening. There wasn't anything to be spooked of though. Basically nothing happened
