He hasnt been that impressive. Best QB the Bears have had in my life, but thats the tallest dwarf award.

I wanna say he hasnt met expectation but I sorta have a feeling if he had one top reciever, he might be a lot better.

The line sucks too. Its not excuses though. Cutler has been bad. Its just the players around him make it hard to tell how much is him.

His total yardage numbers are likely going to be lower but that is as much of an indication of how often the Broncos last year were playing from behind.

Other then that, he has met my expectations. He isn't really playing that much different than he did in Denver.

3 games over 100 rating.
1 game near 80.
3 games under 70.

If he truly is a franchise QB he needs to improve his consistency otherwise we will see a lot of 7-9 to 9-7 seasons.

if a qb can't get into a rythem with his 3-5 step drops without having to duck, dodge, run for his life from oppsosing d line men / lb how in the hell can you even think to judge him let alone the crap ass group of recivers he has to throw to. just a taught.

Aaron Rodgers does fine. Tony Romo even did a few years back when Dallas O line was absolutely terrible.

The recievers taught is valid though

I can't lay all the blame on Cutler. Play calling, a poor offensive
line and subpar WR's are all detriments to him playing better. As
long as he learns not to try to squeeze everything into tight spots
he will do better with the turnovers. I like the wheels he shows
when a play is broken and there is room to run. He also seems
pretty tough after taking a helmet to the chin and getting knocked
around a bit. He is willing to stand in the pocket and try to make a
play more than a lot of QBs. We'll learn more the next few weeks
but he is playing at a level that I expected.

Cutler hasn't played as well as i have liked, but he has very little around him. More often than not Cutler (and the passing game meaning wide receivers and not the O-line) are the only offense the Bears have. I don't think the Bears outcoach their opponents on the offensive end, they win in spite of Turner, case in point yesterday.

I don't think the wide receivers are bad, they have actually been a pleasant surprise.

But the offensive line is horrid and Ron Turner is playing Atari 2600 while most of the NFL is playing Playstation 3. Cutler will regress with Turner and his coaching.

I was really impressed with Aaron Rogers on Sunday. Unfortunately, looks like he's gonna be a thorn in the Bears side for a while.

I must be the dumbest football observer in the world because I have no idea what everyone is constantly bitching about. Cutler is an absolute stud and if this guy gets even average talent around him he will be regarded as one of the great players in Bears history. He has exceeded my expectations.

So you would take how he has played so far for the next 5 years and be happy?

There are QB's in the league playing similarly who are in danger of losing their jobs and the team they play for will be picking a QB in the first round to replace them. Jason Campbell will be lucky to be in Washington next year.

Don't take this as me saying that Jay Cutler is anything like Campbell but currently they are playing very similarly.

Obviously we would prefer the Pro Bowl QB of last year. But that's precisely the difference over the rest... Cutler has proven for a few years that he has talent. He's proven it this year with 3 games with 100+ QB ratings this year.

Jay needs to be more consistent... I just don't think there is any sort of argument or debate to have.

Agree. But as others have pointed out, it's hard to be consistent when you're getting knocked down every three plays and are on the run for the rest.

I don't argue with anything you say but he said that he is an "absolute stud" and he has "exceeded expectations". I don't see how anyone could be happy with that especially when you consider just how much talent he really does have.

We need a Cutler's great vs. Cutler sucks section. This argument was old before the season even started. Add it to the politics section. It'll be perfect...two polar opposite sides that keep repeating themselves over and over and will never change their minds and don't really listen to anyone.

Not quite.

He's 4-3 on a horseshit team. He throws rockets all over the field while on the run with 300 lb. angry men hanging off him. If they get an O-line that gives him time to throw and receivers that can run routes and catch the football his QB rating will go up and he'll get elected to the Pro Bowl. For whatever reason that seems to be most important.

Some of those rockets are ill advised and end up intercepted.

The Packers WRs are better than the Bears. The Olines are equally pathetic.

Rodgers should be doing a little better. Cutler has made a lot of mistakes, but they also don't win vs. Pittsburgh and Seattle without his play.

Cutler & the Bears performance thus far is further proof that the problem is Jerry, Lovie & Ron.
A mediocre QB like Orton goes elsewhere & plays well. A pro bowl QB like Cutler comes to the Bears & is mediocre. Hub has talked about the deficiency in the Bears coaching staff for years, & the evidence is starting to pile up against them. The Bears don't have anyone who knows how to use Cutler. I see the same type of offensive game plan & play calling that they used with Orton.
I was very optimistic before the season started & predicted the Bears would finish 11 - 5. Now looking at the remaining schedule, this team could finish 6 - 10.

Youre right Cutler was great in those games. He needs more consistency.

But as far as Rogers, he's not doing a little better. He's the highest rated QB in the league. Cutler is 20th

Well, that makes sense too. They have had a couple games like yesterday where they have been behind, and had to throw the ball. Week 1 against the Bears, and yesterday's game, for example

The Bears have had the benefit of being behind as well.

Right now...

But the thing with Roger is that he has two top notch veteran receivers who know how to get open when Rogers is flushed out of the pocket. Driver and Jennings are excellent at that. Hester, Knox, and Bennett (where has he been?) don't have a clue.
