They can fire Lovie and "go cheap" & hire this guy. Maybe not a bad move!

I still like the idea of Jim Harbough from Stanford as the Bears head coach. But Cowher & Gruden are my !st & 2nd choices, with Mike Shanahan as Director of Football Operations replacing Phillips & Angelo.

That would be just like the McCaskeys to hire Fitzgerald...although I would probably trade Lovie for Fitz immediately!

the only thing funnier than bears fans are bears fans after a loss. Hire tom cable, he seems to have fire and passion.

Spmack,
Meatball, your ass! I'm one of the few Lovie supporters on this site! Even now,I have not panicked & feel Lovie deserves the chance to right the ship. But with people clamoring for his head,a cheap way out for the Bears is to hire some young "up & comer" for about 1.5 mil a year, give him a 2 year contract. They have tried something like this before with Dave McGinnes, who promptly told them to shove it. If the Bears keep falling & get hammered doing it,than I guess it's time for Lovie to move on.

How about the Bears hire Ron Zook and Bill Lynch?

At this point I will settle for any head coach that will hire assistants because they know what they are doing and not because they best friends.

Packer fans after a Packer loss are pretty funny too

Lots of good head coaches out there; Schottenheimer, Gruden, Shanahan, Holmgren, Dungy. My pick is Cowher!

I like Harbaugh as well.
The only way Cowher, Shanahan, etc., are taking this job is if Angelo gets fired too. They all will want personnel say. Harbaugh may not though, and he's doing great work with very little out there.

Dungy is not coming to coach the Bears. If he still wanted to coach, he never would have left Goober. I think he is perfectly happy doing his 15 minutes of TV wach week and mentoring Vick.

Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but the love child of former "Good Times" star John Amos & former "SportsChannel Report" anchor Dyrol Joyner ain't going anywhere. Given all the $$$$ the Bears owe Lovie Smith the next 2 years, the McCaskeys aren't about to eat that much McMoney. Lovie will be the head coach again next year, but after that...All bets are off.

I'm sure the same thing was said about the Bears trading for a franchise QB.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but to say it's never happened before is not the most valid reason.

maybe if they made a life size cutout of jen patterson, and took off one article of clothing for every game they win..... i think it was in a movie. worked well for them.

It's not my money, but if the Bears were smart, they'd hire an offensive mind such as Mike Holmgren, Brian Billick or even Cowboys' offensive coordinator Jason Garrett as their next head coach instead of going defensive like they've done for years. Why not Mike Shanahan? Because Jerry Jones and the Cowboys or Dan Snyder and the Redskins will get into a bidding war for Shanahan's services and the Bears don't have the financial resources to make such a move.
