It is one of my favorite shows. It's nice as the focus of family time on a Sunday evening.

I watch the show, but definitely not one of my favorites. I find the show to be really stale in that there are a lot of episodes where its obvious from the first 10 minutes who is getting eliminated, a lot of episodes where none of the challenges matter because everyone catches up to each other at the airport, and worst of all, 9/10 times the winner of the whole show comes down to who gets the best cab driver.

The races on this show are not too "Amazing". They really could make this more exciting. For example:

I would start all contestants somewhere in NYC with everyone having $0. They have to get to a destination in LA using any means necessary. That would be exciting. How many would steal a car, or rob someone? The show would only need one rule, no bribes from contestants to give up prize money if they win. Have a camera crew follow each team and see what unfolds. I would watch that.

Already been done, see NBC's aborted show called Lost, not to be confused with ABC's hit show of the same name.

The NBC version dropped teams in the middle of nowhere like Mongolia with pretty much nothing and told them to get back to LA. Show was terrible, because of the lack of structure teams got seperated pretty quickly and one team ended up 2 days ahead of everyone else pretty much ending the race before they even got off the first continent.

Also, the complete lack of money forced teams to panhandle in poverty striken countries, which didn't sit too well with the audience.

I'm not a fan of Amazing Race's format, but I understand why they do it (don't want teams getting too big of a lead). in the first season of AR a team ended up 3 days behind the pack going into the last leg which pretty much ruined any suspense the finale hoped to have.

the structure, while it may be annoying, keeps the show going. I really think they do mix it up to the point where you don't know sometimes what team will get eliminated. The sun's position is sometimes a big giveaway though. I did catch two episodes of NBC's Lost and it was awful. Pure awful.

It is well documented that shakes is the resident expert on crappy reality shows featuring dead-behind-the-eyes contestants seeking their 15 minutes of "fame". Please do not argue with him on these points.

Spanky, if you want to know how truly pathetic it gets I can start telling stories from my years of being a member of the Survivor spoiling community.

The amount of material contained in these two consecutive posts is actually quite staggering.

Pretty good episode, except for the fact that it was pretty obvious who was going home. I love the Harlem Globetrotters team, but apparently the team of brothers doesn't care much for them, which then makes me dislike the brothers team. Barring catastrophe, I can't see how the Globetrotters team loses. They replayed the incident where the globetrotter and brother collided, and while I was hoping to see that the brother caused the problem, I don't think he did. Looked like he was just run into. Looking forward to the rest of the season, and Next Iron Chef is just about over as well. Between those two, didn't catch much SNF.

You don't see how the Globetrotters can lose????? Why? Because they can outrun the other teams? That accounts for about 5% of what it takes to win.

Just like every other season, its all going to come down to who has the best cab driver on the last leg.

I agree 100%. The show is fun to watch, but it always does come down to who has the best cabbie. That kinda sucks

yep, wasn't the least bit surprised to see the Globetrotters lose. I knew the big guy was an idiot. I loved how they actually thought they were the favorites just because they can out run people. Morons.
