I think Manning is a class guy. He's handled his enormous success very well... scandal-free... low-key private life.... grounded. I'd like to see him against Brees in the Super Bowl.

"Goober" is a term of endearment. Kinda big. Kinda dopey lookin'. Kinda funny. Goober was one of the most likeable characters on the Andy Griffith Show. I never meant it in a mean-spririted manner.

And Peyton's head is shaped like a peanut.
So, perhaps that is why Mac calls him "Goober".
