3 of the 5 picks were not Jay's fault. The two in the red zone are obviously indefensible and he deserves all the criticism he has coming his way from that. But seriously, when you think about the next time the Bears are a great team, how many members of the current team will be a part of that?

Literally we need 1-2 Safeties (free and strong) 1-2 corners, 3-4 defensive lineman, 1 linebacker (I think Briggs/Urlacher/Pino would have been a very solid unit), 4-5 new offensive lineman, 1-2 wide receivers, 1 running back. What is everyone expecting at this point? Add on top of that the mounting evidence that this team may be coached far worse than I initially thought and you have the pile of hot garbage that is the 2009-10 Bears.

Forget the numbers. The Bears WR's are lousy. Not one of them can get physical & go up for a ball.
It really is astounding how Jerry & Lovie have run this team into the ground. There isn't one single positive aspect to this team besides the Kicker. The Bears look like a team which is about to be really bad for a lot of years.

QB Bad
RB Bad
WR Bad
TE Improving
OL Bad

S Bad
DB Bad
LB Bad except 55
DL Bad
P Regressing
K Good

Both Pace and Williams were garbage tonight. They've been garbage for most of the season, but especially tonight. That fine display of blocking Williams showed in the first series was hysterical.

It is unfathomable that the Bears will win less games this year with Cutler, than they won last year with Orton. The Bears look exactly what a poorly coached team looks like. The Lovie Smith Football program is a collossal failure. The Bears are a team that is poorly conditioned, doesn't block & tackle well, is undisciplined & mistake prone, with glaring weaknesses at every single position. The Country Club camps & practices that Lovie runs result in a soft & bad team.
Going into this season, Bears fans who weren't fans of Lovie Smith were called meatballs. I guess there are a lot more meatballs now!

the bears are a bad team. Just like the packers. I said a few days ago the packers season was over and now the bears is too. Cutler wasn't good today but they clearly need a ton of help. He will eventually need to play smarter, especially in the redzone, but this team is to blame. Unfortunately for bears fans you have no day 1 picks. But both our teams have very good qb's and little else. Tonight shouldn't deter that opinion

It doesn't matter if we have day one draft picks or not. Take a look at Angelos top draft picks recently.

No excuses should be made for Cutler's play tonight. I'm not suggesting you are doing this, but he made several horrible decisions tonight. Yes, his offensive line is very bad, and Matt Forte does look he's running in slow motion at times when he does have space, but neither excuse Cutler trying to force the ball where there's no place. Just bad.

The Bears were fortunate to catch the Steelers in week 2 without Polamalu and with a hungover Jeff Reed.

3 picks against the Steelers defense is far less embarrassing than 5 picks against a weak SF secondary.

Although Orton's pick were bad throws on his part.

Woody Paige is a moron. Orton has played well, and calling for his benching is completely idiotic, just like those hosts on the Score who are using a bad performance against Pittsburgh (imagine that) to smack him down.

False. Maybe 1 of them weren't his fault.

The players were still covered. When you throw into coverage you are taking a chance for an int. It is possible that the WR could have saved him but to lay no blame on Cutler for 3 out of 5 of those is a little much.

So, a non call, a WR slipping (wasn't it funny and ironic to see the Bears get burned a couple times because of a bad field?), and the WR running into the ref is on the QB?

Agreed. Cutler played bad obviously, but I think you are being a bit overly critical this morning BR. No one is going to defend the two in the red zone.

Yeah, I'd say that its usually the case that the receiver you throw to will be covered -at least somewhat. As long as you're not throwing into double coverage regularly (or throwing it directly to players on the other team), I can't blame you.

For the steps forward he took in previous games, Hester leaped about 7 steps back last night. What a pile of suck yesterday.

I'll give you two. I'm not 100% sold that Hester was open on the play he slipped but Jay couldn't have possibly known he would slip.

The Kellen Davis one is on Cutler as much as anyone. The defender beat Davis to a spot and picked it off. It is obvious he was covered because a guy was there before Davis got there. It's not like Davis turned the wrong way or slipped. The defender beat Davis to the ball that Cutler threw. Was it 100% on Jay? Probably not. However, to absolve him from blame doesn't work for me.

Kellen Davis could have bailed Cutler out if he breaks up the play but I put more blame on Cutler for throwing it.

Even if we could magically erase the 3 picks of mysterious blame, Cutler still threw 2 red-zone picks. That all by itself is horrible. 6 chipshot points gone in a game lost by 4.

8 red-zone picks in his last 13 games. But I'm sure those weren't all his fault.

As someone once said...I'm not sure we can win another game...
I remember when Mike Ditka, Scorehead, made that statement after a 1989 loss to the Redskins in Washington when "Da Coach" gave that postgame tirade.

Let's face reality. Lovie Smith is not Ditka by any means, and I don't think he has the tirade in him if the Bears continue to lose clunkers like last night in San Francisco.

I think when the Bears host the Rams December 6th and wrap up what appears to be a very disappointing regular season finale in Detroit January 3rd, chances are pretty good FOX Sports will be sending us Chris Myers & Trent Green to call the games...
