Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Ken Ober, whose MTV game show "Remote Control" was among the network's first forays into non-music programming, has died at age 52, his agent said Monday.

Ober hosted five seasons of "Remote Control," a pop-culture quiz show that featured contestants strapped into easy chairs to answer questions from categories such as "Dead or Canadian?" The show first aired in 1987 and helped launch the careers of comedians Adam Sandler, Denis Leary and Colin Quinn, who was the program's announcer.

Ober later moved behind the camera as a producer of the Comedy Central program "Mind of Mencia" and the CBS comedy "The New Adventures of Old Christine."

Ober's agent, Mark Measures, said Ober was found dead at his home in Los Angeles. No cause of death was immediately known.

Other than Jeopardy, one on my three faves. Win Ben Stein's Money is the other great game show.

I was a huge fan of this show. Not a huge fan of Blues Traveler videos, but Remote Control was great. Thank Ken Ober for introducing the world to Kari Wuhrer.

I loved Remote Control. That said, I think God struck him down for his involvement with Mind Of Mencia.

I remember I hated the show, hated colin quinn, and Loved Kari Wuhr. I also loved when they did the show from spring break.

OK...someone want to remind me how the show worked again? What was the concept?

At least now we know he's not Canadian.

I remember "Remote Control" aired right after MTV played the #1 most requested video of the day on "Dial MTV" back in the late '80s, Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me". As for the game itself, it dealt with TV, music video, celebrity and pop culture trivia with 9 channels, and it also introduced America to Adam Sandler, Denis Leary and Colin Quinn. I also remember Ken's podium had pictures of game show hosts like Bob Eubanks, Monty Hall, Tom Kennedy and Bob Barker right behind him, not to mention a big Pez head shaped like the longtime host of "The Newlywed Game" and the '80s CBS version of "Card Sharks". I really enjoyed it when I came home from high school and stunned that Ken's now in that game show studio in the sky...

I know I am going to go to Hell for this, but I guess the price was wrong.

"A new...death sentence!"

See you in hell, Dave. See you in hell...

His agent of 20 years, Lee Kernis, says that Ober told a friend that he was suffering from flu-like symptoms and a headache...It'll take weeks before we know for sure what caused Ken's death.

On of the best shows that I grew up to. I loved how the contestants played the whole game while sitting in a recliner eating popcorn. I was also a fan of Singled Out which introduced Jenny McCarthy to the world.

another funny game show that I like was Beat the Geeks.

I'll keep a seat warm for you - although I don't think that will be necessary...
