I'm looking at post MTV launch. I'm posting multiple times because you're only allowed 5 urls per post.

Honorable mentions.....

McCartney & Jackson / "Say Say Say" : Loved the period and sideshow feel to it. Plus it was two musical legends together.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gWvBXS2t4A

Red Hot Chili Peppers / "Californication" : The video game nerd in me loves the concept and execution of this video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFMLARtqxCY

Guns N Roses / "Welcome To The Jungle" : From a hick Axel getting off the bus to him in the chair this thing is great but it's not their best.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYRC4H64EFk

David Bowie / "Let's Dance" : The atmosphere and actors chosen tell one hell of a story and you get red shoes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4d7Wp9kKjA

Ludacris / "Get Back" : His guns man, his guns.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJeZe50ut5A

REM / "Everybody Hurts" : I can't get enough of the subtitles and the pain projected in the faces on screen got to me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pudOFG5X6uA

Johnny Cash / "Hurt" : If this doesn't almost bring you to tears I don't know what video will.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clq01TXQR0s

Beastie Boys / "Sabatoge" : 70's era cops with Fred Kelly as Bunny!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZATxD2aKDo8

Genesis / "Land of Confusion" : Spittin Image puppets get the job done as does a drenched in sweat Ronald Reagan.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oepXF2B5NK4

Kanye West / "All Falls Down" : He may not be the best person out there but you cannot deny the man's talent. This video is Amazing.

Various Artists Trifecta / "Self Destruction" "We're All In The Same Gang" "We Are The World" : Compilations should always be captured on film like these were.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxyYP_bS_6s
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFmiKodg1tc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmxT21uFRwM

Twisted Sister / "We're Not Gonna Take It" : The intro is worth the price of admission.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WT1LXhgXPWs

Henry Rollins / "Liar" : Rollins in the nun and cop outfits still creep me out.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxrd_jZJxkg

NIN / "Closer" : Even the edited version gets the job done even though I don't quite understand what's going on.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4VAv8y2hHM

Guns N Roses / "November Rain" : Sure Axel was probably out of control at this point, but I love every bit of this bloated and pretentious video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bwu7ixmQk0c

Michael Jackson / "Billie Jean" : The floor lit up under his feet. I was also still young enough to think he could have been that baby's father.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fHoDWc22B0

Bone Thugs N Harmony / "Tha Crossroads" : Not a huge fan of the group but this effort was top notch. He misses his uncle Charles.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTkqPWDMlRc

Tool / "Sober" : I can't explain it, just watch it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hglVqACd1C8

Van Halen / "Hot For Teacher" : The choreagraphed dance from the boys is hilarious. And haven't we all said "I don't feel tardy."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0XLKcMoXRE

Wu Tang / "Triumph" : It's Wu Tang.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isumZjs3dKA

Korn / "Freak On A Leash" : If you're any kind of fan of anime then you know why it made the cut.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fY_yjPvHQwY

Red Hot Chili Peppers / "Soul To Squeeze" : Farley and the traveling carnival setting make this a must see.
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6tvj_red-hot-chili-pepperssoul-to-squeez_music

And finally, the number one greatest music video of all time, (Yeah right Napolean. Like you could even know that.) I present to you .......

Geto Boys / "Mind Playin Tricks On Me" : I don't think anything even comes close to this masterpiece. Willie D runs the man off the street, we see crazy and crippled senior citizens, Mr. Scarface is having a hell of a time trying to cope; and Bushwick Bill steals the show. How dope was it when he made the jump while chasing the kids, and didn't you feel bad for the little guy when he was pounding on the pavement? This was and always will be numero uno.

Peter Gabriel / "Sledgehammer" : I can't believe this one hasn't showed up yet.

Jamiroquai / "Supersonic": All of Jamiroquai's videos are outstanding, but this one stands out to me. It might be his most popular, but I think it's the best. May need to smoke a bowl before viewing.

Dire Straits / "Money For Nothing": Probably my favorite video as a child.

This is going to show how damn old I am but I remember when music videos first came out. The first one that I ever saw was at Great America (before it became Six Flags) and you had to pay to watch it. You put in 50 cents or whatever and the video played.

The first video I ever saw was Aha "Take on Me". I still think this is one of the best videos ever made and perhaps the cornballest song ever.

Definitely a really good video and one of my favorite songs of all time.
How can 46th say that Henley wants to be Fogerty so bad?
They are nothing alike.
That Henley video shows no similarity to Fogerty>
Both just average craftsmen on their instruments, although
Fogerty's rep is totally overrated.
Henley's voice is light years better than that off key hillbilly growl of Fogerty's.
Fogerty scores no points for being a pompous prick and refusing to play with his
bandmates when CCR was put into the Hall Of Fame.
Lyrics? Listen to Boys of Summer and compare it to Fogerty's phony baseball anthem.
I can be centerfield? Yeah, right.

Forget Centerfield and the solo stuff. Just take CCR vs. the Eagles. No American band will ever again have a run of commercial and critical success like CCR did between 1968 and 1971. The Eagles certainly didn't. I think their music is absolute garbage, though I'm sure I'll get some vehement opposition there.

I don't care if you like CCR better, but to say they had a better commercial run than the Eagles might be the funniest thing I've read in a while...let's look at the numbers...

CCR:

1968 - Creedence Clearwater Revival - Platinum
1969 - Bayou Country - 2x Platinum
1969 - Green River - 3x Platinum
1969 - Willy and the Poor Boys - 2x Platinum
1970 - Cosmo's Factory - 4x Platinum
1970 - Pendulum - Platinum
1972 - Mardi Gras - Gold

Eagles

1972 - Eagles - Platinum
1973 - Desperado - 2x Platinum
1974 - On the Border - 2x Platinum
1975 - One of The Nights - 4x Platinum
1976 - Hotel California - 16x Platinum
1979 - The Long Run - 7x Platinum
2007 - Long Road out of Eden - 7x Platinum

Yeah, pretty equal until we get to the Eagles later years, but that doesn't include compilations/live albums/etc...if I did that, you'd see that The Eagles Greatest Hits, Volume 1 (29.5m) has sold more copies in the US than all the CCR albums combined.

Again, I can't fault anyone for liking CCR over the Eagles, but get that "no one has had commercial success like CCR" shit out of here.

Yeah, I don't get the Fogerty comparison either.

I'm assuming by "average craftsmen" you are referring to Henley's drumming ability, because I would completly agree. He is a sufficient drummer for the band, but certainly isn't anywhere near the level of ability that his other band mates are. As for his voice, dead on. What really impresses me about it is it sounds even better live than it does on disc.

As for who's better, like the CCR/Eagles debate, I don't care...obviously I like Don Henley a lot, but I'm not going to get in any music pissing matches for him...sorry Don...

Eagles are fine, but vastly overrated.
CCR '68 thru '71?
I'll see that and raise you with Skynyrd '73 thru '77!!!

I thought about "Express Yourself" long and hard, (I know I'm opening myself up there) though it's glad to know somebody else out there got a kick out of the skinny dude in the Penguins jersey and the bodybuilder trying to dance.

He's in the background and he looks like Nightstalker Richard Ramirez on roids.

It's not meant in a disparaging way. It just always seemed to me that Fogerty was someone he looked up to and wanted to emulate, except for the whole nude 16yr old girl o.d. thing. I liken it to Elvis and Roy Orbison. I always figured Elvis was paying tribute to Orbison with his hair and singing style.

Also in 1980, singer Don Henley was arrested after a nude 16-year-old girl was found in his Los Angeles home suffering from a drug overdose.

What kind of shirtless driver hates the Eagles? You're supposed to have "Life in the Fast Lane" playing as you're shirtlessly driving.
