IF the Bears somehow, someway sign the right personnel (OL, WRs, RBs, etc.) who is to say Cutler will play any better than he currently is?

Will a better OL just give him more time to throw an interception? One would think that having inadequate OL help would make you MORE protective of the ball.

Will better receivers make him MORE accurate and change his way of thinking " I can throw into triple coverage, it's all good"?

What will his excuse be if there are the right personnel but he still performs at this level of incompetence? Maybe it's just that he is an average QB.

I will state again that I was excited when Cutler was signed back in April, but at this point, not so much.

You don't need to guess or predict what Cutler would look like if he had quality parts surrounding him. He had them last year and he was a Pro Bowler.

Cutler is the best player on offense and it ain't even close.

The Cutler = Pro Bowl QB is suspect at best. His numbers last season--other that total yds--were mediocre.

Philip Rivers had a better season in 2008 than Cutler--and Rivers even got his team into the playoffs (again). Something Cutler has never been able to do.

Chad Pennington really should've been ahead of both Cutler and Favre in last season's Pro Bowl voting.

Pro Bowl voting in the NFL is about as valid a determinant of excellence at a position for a season as Gold Glove voting is in MLB.

In other news, a 43" tall man recently was awarded "World's Largest Midget". I think Cutler could be good, but this team has so many holes that he may be retired by the time they are fixed. Not only did the "D" give up close to 600 yards today, it's not like they are a group of young guys that may get better.

That's precisely the point. No matter how good Cutler could be, it doesn't matter when he is surrounded by an awful offense and an even worse defense.

As I said, Cutler is by far the best player on offense. Plenty of other things we should be worrying about at this point.

One of the wosrt o lines, a not too good receiving core, a progressively worse defense and bottom 3 coaching and worse upper management are the main concerns of this team. Cutler is trying his ass off to overcome the offensive defficiencies but to no avail.

That have something to do with Cutler having the diabetes?

"I tell ya, having the diabetus makes ya blind, esp at night. One night I got up to take a leak and didn't bother to put on my glasses. When I got back in bed I made Image with Mrs Brimley. At least what I thought it was Mrs. Brimley. When I woke up in the morning, I was out in the garage, buck-naked on top of Ms. Buick."

Not sure what criteria that's based on--as the QB, Cutler's certainly the most important person on the offense.

However, if other NFL GMs were given a free pass to poach one guy from the Bears offense, they'd probably choose Knox, especially if you take into account contracts. Cutlers contract is among the highest 3 for QB's in the league. But Cutler's barely in the top 3 in his own division in terms of actual QB performance.

The "Cutler will be ruined by the first year here" theory. I have no answer for you...

I think the opposite, that he's trying to make something happen in as short of time possible (given the bad line, and propensity therefore for sackage and being harassed,) making for ill advised reads, etc. At least, I am hoping so. You have to figure that watching a year's worth of watching them make bad run play-calling (gee, Forte up the middle?!?) is bound to ruin anyone's confidence in this coaching staff. From Turner on down, certainly, but also including Lovie. We all can see the running game's out of whack, so how much more obvious is that to a pro player?!?

Its true to an extent. I don't think Hester or Knox would have the same numbers without Cutler. Think of how bad this team would be if they had Kyle Orton (or Grossman, or Derke Anderson, or somebody else) at QB. They would have 2 wins- Detroit and Cleveland. Maybe SF but even with the INTs, I don't think any other QB would have a better/same record.

Yesterday should have been the biggest eye opener for those saying that the Bears offense is "adequate" or that other QBs are doing more with less. Bunk. Take a look at the Oline protecting Farve, and the weapons that he had to throw/hand off too. Every single one of the Vikings starters is better than those on the Bears.

Certainly Cutler has had a subpar season to say the least, but other than him and Hester (and only if Hester is a #2 or #3) the Bears have absolutely nothing sewn up on the offensive side of the ball.

Agreed. Theyre not good.

But Most teams dont have Good OL, Good Recievers, and Good RB.

Cant have it all...until the salary cap goes away.

Then you can have it all

Understandable, but you can strive to have at least 1 of those aspects be "good" and the other 2 be "mediocre". Because with that you can win 10+ games.

Of course, it doesn't help when D gives up TDs almost every drive.

Right, Cutlers mistakes are magnified by not having great weapons around him. That doesnt excuse the mistakes though.

Some of the throws he tries to make are just ridiculous. Wouldnt matter if you had the 90's cowboys off line and 80's 49er skill positions...he's made some just WTF throws.

What it it is true. What if the presence of Jay Cutler is masking a Cleveland Brown type of mess.

I know this is a dumb question but isn't the WR core better than last year?

Knox is a clear upgrade over Rashied Davis or Marty Booker.
Devin Hester and Olsen have another year of experience.

Do we really think that Matt Forte has suddenly forgotten how to play football? Did he lose all his talent? What happened?

The offensive line is worse though.

If this is the case, Jerry Angelo MUST be fired after this season. To give up significant draft picks along with another non difference maker in Kyle Orton, just magnifies his incompetence.

NFL passing is about timing. The receivers are not running proper routes, so no, knox is not an upgrade right not. Hester is getting better, Olsen is a big pussy.
It all starts with the O-line and D-line. Forte is bad because there are limited holes and he stuttersteps too much because of that. When Cuter does have time, he is still keeping one eye open.
Get one or two good linemen and Cutler more time to work with the recievers and things will improve.

Knox and Hester are the same to me. I don't think they are being used well. Neither is Olsen really.
