You'd think CBS2 has a dress code and that North & Jiggetts will have to dress more professionally on their new show, Chus...

I'm not a North fan. I tolerate Jiggs. I didn't listen/watch a second of MITM on Comcast.

But for some reason, I just have a feeling that this is not going to be as bad as everyone thinks. I think it might actually work.

Maybe it's because there is so much garbage on at that time and nothing local - they just might be able to pull this off.

The way it works is only if Pappy accepts the fact that he needs to let people tell him what to do, if he demands to do it his way, 6 months and done.

I guess I think the reason this COULD work is exactly that RV - I think CBS will take more creative control of the show and dictate the content and material much more guardedly than the local comcast stuff, which to me was basically a small step ahead of public access television. I never watched it but from what everyone said the production was low rent, the content was horrible, etc.

If CBS molds this in the proper way, I think North and Jiggs still have enough of a following that this could be mildly succesful as opposed to a colossal fail.

When North's former teammates "Boers & Bernstein" first mentioned the news about him & "Jiggs" taking over the CBS2 Morning show yesterday, which few people watch to begin with, Terry & Dan couldn't describe the story with a straight face... It was "B & B" at their funniest yesterday.

Not being doom and gloom, but if they had to back out of a deal with comcast, a all sports station, i have my doubts about CBS2, which has been the worse news station in chicago the last 10 years being able to make something out of it. But, sometimes things work out, but if it is, it wont be in the time slot they have now.

You may well be right RV - I won't cry one way or the other as I don't really partake in morning tv - but I just feel that the potential could possibly be there for something a bit different.

There was a time when CBS2 was THE place for news, especially in the mid '70s when Bill Kurtis & Walter Jacobson anchored "THE TEN O'CLOCK NEWS". Since a guy named Bill Applegate generally managed WBBM-TV in the early '90s, that station has undergone quite a facelift in its news presentation, including flashy, tabloid-like graphics, along with a rotating door of different anchors that haven't been nearly as good as Bill & Walter used to be. This despite the fact that CBS has had a strong prime time lead-in for the last several years now. This isn't just a 10p problem, but a problem that CBS has had for a while...

IMO, the problem they will face is that early morning programming primarily is geared toward people getting ready to leave the house. They tune in for short periods to get up to speed on news/weather/traffic & sports (same reason WBBM radio is highly rated as discussed in another thread). Anything which requires a focused commitment of more than 5 or 10 minutes to appreciate will have a very limited audience.

Thats what I was thinking. Who is going to wake up at 5 am just to watch this for 2 hours. If you happen to catch it then it will only be for a few minutes and all you would be looking for is a quick score or weather update.. At least if you are on the radio then you get the drivers attention for the length of the commute.

Do you really think viewers and investors will give "Pappy" & "Jiggs" the time of day or do you think those on LaSalle St. will stay with the established "Squawk Box" on CNBC after the novelty wears off once it debuts?

I have no doubt you will see Jiggles with an associate producer credit and Be Be with a producer credit. Neither will have substantive input on the day to day production of the show.

Good luck to Mike. It looks like he weathered the storm during this recession.

Well said Dolphin.

If he brings back Jesse to produce, he will be back on track.

Bernsy gets nutty when he contemplates the lack of TV exposure on his resume.

It's just his jealousy coming out the last few days.

What normal person actually wastes time rooting for others to fail?

Honestly, if I was in pappy shoes on this, i would have turned it down.

I suspect the show will be less then a hour old before terry savage asks someone if North is retarded, this indeed will fail faster then his last 3 "ventures". I am also willing to bet that more money is coming out of pappys pocket on this then cbs.

It's insulting that North will have any microphone to speak about finanical issues after what went on at Webio. That's not t say he was a part of the Ponzi scheme, but he certainly was extremely irresponsible.

You are correct, sir. I have admitted defeat. Mike North is a god and a genius to keep pulling this off. However, that still doesn't stop me from hoping Jeff Kiernan gets his intestines extracted through his belly button with red-hot pincers for this move.

Mike North, you are the greatest. Few people in this world have gotten more reward for less talent than you. I worship you. Give Jen a little sumthin' for me tonight, won't ya, buddy? Yeah, there ya go, thanks, I knew ya would!

I also find it amazing, and have to give him credit, that he keeps getting supposedly smart people to buy his tired act.

North's ratings history at the Score and Comcast, the colossal failure of Dontfademe, the Webio disaster, all the shit we've talked about here for years, etc., etc., etc. are all public knowledge and we all know these stories quite well, as does anyone in the industry who can read the English language. I can only conclude that these broadcast execs who keep giving this guy new shows are aware of something that we here don't know. There is some hidden magic to Mike North that mere mortals like us here on this board apparently can't comprehend, so I have come to the conclusion he is an absolute god--a divinity. There is almost a surrealistic, a religious aura, if you will, to this entire concept of Channel 2 approaching this turd after all this and saying, "Yeah, you're the man, be our morning guy." He's got to be divine and I am now a believer. Praise be to Mike North. Don't be surprised if you see a shadowy figure walking across Lake Michigan tomorrow morning--yep, it'll be Mike North.

I think they are hiring him because they fall for the "He's Mike North, everyone knows him" argument.

Why wouldn't North be talking about news? I got the idea that they are sitting around a table talking about the issues of the day, whether it's sports, news, etc.

If CBS lets North talk about anything but sports, they are asking for trouble, that is his track record. Again, Pappy is good at talking sports when he is directed and has 0% input on the production of the show, anything else, his track record over the last 6 years speaks for itself. Anyone can get a job, his rep is just now that he is a short term guy, nothing more.

I agree. I don't know why anyone would want to hear Mike North talk about non-sport issues, unless the thought of a trainwreck is appealing. It's gotten to be that point for sports as well. I didn't watch one second of his Comcast show because I don't care what he has to say about anything. He's a moron, a loud moron, but still a moron.

As for this show, as much as I defend Mike North & his resiliency & ability to sell & promote Mike North, I honestly don't understand the make up of this show. The name is dumb & I just can't imagine North & Jiggs on a financial show. Oh the irony of it all.

Seriously, somebody ask Jen on her facebook if she will be a part of this in some fashion. Don't be a jerk either. I'm curious.

Butter her up. Say you love her and North. Say you love her work. Say she's talented. Tell her she should be a model. Then ask her if she's going to CBS 2. She'll answer after the compliments.

I tried to go to her myspace but she has made it private now.

That is exactly what I said yesterday, as well as many Months ago. The problem Bernsey has is it is a very bad career strategy to continually rip the city in which you work, fans, & your listeners on a daily basis. Berns has been branded as a boorish, negative, miserable soul. I can only assume that Terry has been a negative influence on Dan. He made his bed, now he must sleep in it.
