There is no money in the 5am timeslot, so Jen will be taking a paycut, even from Mike.
north's next shift will be the 3am slot. This show is no big deal, no money, no viewers.

I gotta figure they need a sports producer for the sports portion of the show. Just somebody to print out box scores and get player bios from the web. CBS 2 producers will be pissed if Jen rolls in with her "Her ya go Mikey. Oh by the way, I just booked Buffone. Break a leg." The respected on air people won't like it either. Hell, they're all laughing that North is coming.

Early in his career, Berns was tabbed as a rising star on the Chicago media scene, with many people predicting that Berns would rise to stardom. Now, 14 years later, he has been promoted just once at WSCR. The meteoric rise to stardom that Berns expected hasn't gone as planned.

I would disagree.

There's that "I'm better than this" feeling that he gets often.

"I should have been in TV.

I'm brighter and better than Greenberg.

Why did I settle for being the smart kid in the dumb row."

Don't kid yourself Hatchet. it bugs him early and often. And it manifests itself in the way he acts toward others.

Afternoon drive on the Score is a pretty good position. It's better than mornings on Comcast and CBS 2. What are you talking about? North in the morning at the Score was a great position. If you think Comcast was better then you must not realize that they took it off the air cuz it didn't make a dime.

Bernstein can't be promoted any more. He's got the prime position at the Score.

Bernstein does afternoon drive, on a huge frequency, in the number 3 market in the country. That's a great accomplishment. It's a pretty prestigious media position. 5-7 on CBS 2 & 6-10 on local comcast is way beneath his position. I don't think you realize that, Scorehead.

I congratulate Mike. This might be just the vehicle to get him back on track since he most likely does not have production control. He will not have to concentrate as hard on sponsorship or production. He won't be talking about politics or current events. He will not even be required to carry the show. Mike will be back to doing what Mike does best, being a wild card sports talker.

I have no doubt you will see Jiggles with an associate producer credit and Be Be with a producer credit. Neither will have substantive input on the day to day production of the show.

Good luck to Mike. It looks like he weathered the storm during this recession.

Why wouldn't North be talking about news? I got the idea that they are sitting around a table talking about the issues of the day, whether it's sports, news, etc.

Now you have me worried. I just assumed he would be handling sports. He's not really going to discuss financials with someone as accomplished as Savage. She does a great job of bringing the economy to the people, but she couldn't possibly stoop to that level every day.

I see it as an opening bell type of show with a news, weather and sports component. Savage is the centerpiece with others being brought in to supplement. Would Savage agree to anything less?

Wow. I like the success of North if for nothing else it provides entertainment here and makes Bernstein agitated.

Yeah, that has advertisers lined up to invest in.

If anybodt thinks this is gonna last more than two weeks, you have alot more hope in the stupid sorts than reality.

Do you really think CBS TV would invest in a show and cancel it after just 2 weeks?

Yes.

When they are not investing a dime of their own money, and will have a hard time getting advertisers and or their advertisers drop on account of whatever a vagina mouth yeast infects on that channel, sure.

I still dont believe this fail makes it to the first show, personally. Somebody at CBS will smarten up than allow this idiot to poison their revenue streams, unless they have already laid a strict ground work that will render him useless which WOULD be fun to watch, honestly.

He either wont make it the first day, or be a trained mule just so he can still be in the spotlight, either way everybody wins....except Nort.
To still be on the air in some capacity, you wont be getting the ignorant loudmouth Nort, but a neutered down one, talking over sports highlights like a trained poodle, similar to what JenJerm does now, and when ppl see him squinting to see what is on a teleprompter, they will figure out they can get some other sap who actually knows what he is doing, and turf the idiot.

His opinion means nothing, as it hasnt in a long time. This is only to feed his ego, and his track record of fail runs miles, he is the Alan Thicke of chicago sports opinion, but he doesnt have a "growing pains" to fall back on on account of he doesnt appeal to a young audience they way Kirk Cameron did.

He is a future MC at a local bingo hall, spewing his tirades about the benefits of a Kyle Orton over Jay Cutler in between telling old ppl the pull tab booth closes in a half hour and B11 was the last ball pulled out the spinning basket.

Infomercials in that time slot are big business, and I will bet money the magic bullet gets better ratings than any Nort failure, because thru that, at least I learned how to make a salsa in ten seconds, which is longer than the amount of time anybody with a brain will watch yet another Nort disaster. I can watch and look at a car crash just like anybody else, but if I see the same wreck, with the same dead bodies over and over, just in a different intersection, Ill just find another way to commute.

Bernsy will probably never know that feeling. He'll just continue to rip the people who have done it because he can't stomach himself for not facing the fear of trying it.

Thanks. Keep on this story and report back when news breaks. Have you asked her on her page?

I have deployed a CSFMB special unit to CBS 2's website. They have emailed the GM. They are trying to find out as well.

Maybe he likes his job and is content to stay there. He makes what 500k a year? I just think of Dan as a guy who would be willing to get a great job and stay in the city he grew up in.

This is an interesting thread....and I heard the B&B reaction replayed twice today....what we are simply touching on are these hours and this gig North is going to do.
If the sports media junkies on this board found no time to watch MITM in any great length because things like sleep, the bathroom, familial morning responsibilities and something like a JOB might have interfered, who is going to watch ANY of this between 5 and 7 am?

Bernstein invariably will piss off everyone on any given topic...he recently has pissed me off with his baseball "insight" and his determination that the only thing that matters is a home run.

His reaction to this latest North venture is not only understandable...it is great fodder, and his point that this could only happen in Chicago is undoubtedly dead on correct.

There is no point in blaming North anymore for the guys that followed him on his 'Screw the Score' Webio debacle.....those guys are adults...they didn't bother to do any homework...Ofman has landed where he always belonged....W.G.N......he carried himself like a 70 year old man back at Sportsphone...

North isn't exactly replacing Walter Cronkite or Dan Rather at CBS....he is just moving his sports themed version of Ray Rayner-Bozo's Circus to the local outlet in a reduced role......from 5 to 7 AM...when even the bars in Cicero are now closed....

I respect North for his constant battle with reality and his attempt to stay relevant in this market....He is what he is..the dead end kid...street scrapper...HUSTLER......

This 5-7 AM gig is doomed to failure....maybe they will play it in drunk tanks at local jails while the DUI arrestees wait for their I-Bonds....

The damned truth is North should have taken the pay cut at WSCR and kept the morning gig...he already came from nothing..he has no more to prove....somehow I keep thinking of Muhammad Ali or Willie Mays.....take any fight...get any at bat...when you are basically done...

I agree with the argument made here his only real value as an entertainer is on Radio if he is to sustain here...and he has to get back there...and soon..before this latest nonsense on Channel 2 is shitcanned.

I'm not a fan of bernstein, but he has nothing to be jealous of with north. North is now scrapping the bottom of the barrel. He hasn't really made any money in the last year and a half and has be conned and failed in every venture. There is NO money in this time slot, this is only to try to stay relevant, which he hasn't been in years. He has turned into a cartoon and I can't imagine anyone really being jealous of a desperate, irrelevant cartoon character.
Bernstein has a great job and isn't spiralling down hill like north has been doing.

I sure as hell am not buying into the new Mike North as Underdog routine....
Bernstein will lampoon, harpoon and satirize anyone but Jerry "He loves Baseball" Reinsdorf.
Bernstein is intelligent...Our heroic underdog, North, is 'street smart'...Bernstein sure as hell isn't reinventing himself every 6 months out of a genuine need to maintain a pulse here...

MIKE NORTH HAS BEEN SHITTING HIS OWN BED HERE FOR THE LAST DECADE....

I wonder if CBS2 will get big ratings on the first morning those guys are on, much like when Katie Couric debuted as new anchor of the "CBS Evening News" about 3 years ago...Then, the novelty wears off and viewers watch ABC7 or NBC5 instead...

I cannot stand Bernstien but to say he's jealous of North is laughable.

Jealous of what? North has mad a complete fool of himself in so many ways. I cant see Seacrest's point (what else is new?) about North taking chances. He stupid for blowing the chances he already had. He runninig out of fucking timeslots. My god he's headed for Les Grobstien territory.

I hate the arrogant Dan Bernstien but if he gets fired tomorrow, he'll be okay because he has endless opportinities because of his education. What the hell with North do? Head Cook at IHOP? He has finally landed in the worst time slot on the worst TV station in Chicago.

Good Luck with that!

There cant be much left.

That's because she is curled up crying about not getting the weather job on the new show. How will she pay for all those shoes

Jen can't do the weather on CBS 2. They have an acutal "Meteoralogist" doing it with the green screen, maps, barometric pressure, wind shield and all that jazz. Not some girl who says "It's 75 degrees today. Weeeeeee."

Who the hell needs a "Meteorologist" to do the weather? Anyone can get detailed weather info on line. I want to see a hot babe doing the weather. Who even watches the 10:00 news for weather anymore?
