I'm saying Cowher for the best choice - but, as previously mentioned, Lovie isn't going anywhere yet - it's damned ridiculous that everything's falling into place the way it is, because I'm sure that they'll replace Turner (because somebody's gotta take the fall for this abortion of a season), and the next OC has to be a part of a lame-duck staff that knows that they're all the next ones out the door after next year.

On offense? Yes. On defense? No chance. Their offense was great even with all the injuries. I loved the fact that they could pretty much plug any running back into their system and he would rush for 1000 yards. It would be a miracle if Forte rushed for 1000 yards this year.

I went with Gruden, but wouldn't mind at all if it was Cowher. I don't know about Shannahan.

I think it's the Nos/Riles Mult-Nation (the "Nation of Aggravation"?) voting for Lovie.

Is there a coach available that comes with the busload of talented players that the Bears need to be a decent team? If so, I want him.

Great point. While Lovie and his staff are getting pounded this year if a guy like Cowher came in and had the same type of success next season most fans would blame the players. If the players would be crappy next season then why can't they be crappy this year?

Because Cowher would be the next SAVIOR. Just like nothing is Cutler's fault... right now. If Bill Cowher or any of these other knight-in-shining-armor coaches is hired, the next person to be thrown under the bus of public opinion will be Cutler, assuming Angelo is taken out as well. If Angelo sticks around, it will go Lovie-->Angelo-->Cutler-->new coach.

Didn't Jimmy Johnson go 1-15 with the Cowboys before they turned around? IF Lovie is replaced,I hope it's somebody that HAS a personality besides being a good coach! Let's go down that Bears coaching list again:
Abe Gibron=Personality + good assistant coach playing a head coach
Jim Dooley=some personality + maybe a good coach-no personel
Jack Pardee=no Personality + good coach
Neil Armstrong=no Personality + good assistant coach playing a head coach
Mike Ditka= Great Personality + Great Head Coach (3 NFC championship games & 1SB win!)
Dave Wannstedt=little Personality + good assistant coach playing a head coach
Dick Jauron= Brain dead in both categories!
Lovie Smith= no Personality + good coach

NEXT=????

Jimmy, the 1989 Cowboys did go 1-15 in Jimmy Johnson's first season after Jerry Jones bought the team. Unlike the Bears right now, the Cowboys absolutely fleeced the Vikings when they made that Herschel Walker trade. While Herschel went to Minnesota, Dallas got a bunch of draft picks in return and the rest was history.

Because the Bears don't have a first round pick each of the next 2 years due to the Jay Cutler trade, and a second round pick in the Gaines Adams deal, the only way the Bears can even get back in before the third round is to trade away the likes of Lance Briggs, Devin Hester and Brian Urlacher in the offseason...They're not going to fleece anyone unless they do the unthinkable at this point.
