I certainly don't think my Lovie Smith thoughts are all that earth shattering. I mean who in their right mind ever thought this guy was a leader of Men, motivator, or coach? I was against his hiring from day one.
As for North, Seacrest summed up Mike Norths legacy perfectly. Weather you like him or not, if you are objective you surely recognise Norths role in the development & growth of the Score. I'm not the biggest North fan these days, but the 1990's were a fucking riot with North building WSCR from the little engine that could, into a nationally recognized sports radio station. Funny how things change. CBS now owns WSCR, & Mike North now works for CBS. Knowing how networks like to cross promote & market, I wonder if North will show up on WSCR at some point?

Looks like we are back at square one...NORTH SHOULD HAVE SHUT UP AND TAKEN THE $850,000 he was offered to stay at WSCR.

From 850 G's to what now??? 50 G's MAYBE?!? One wrong move after another. This move though is a RIGHT move. It's like BigFan has been saying. Once he is no longer in charge,it will be better for him. Maybe from this job, they can land another gig. It's a stepping stone.

Seth Mason's road map for the Score was a sort of an ESPN Sportscenter on radio. Reading scores and discussing games. Callers were not a big part of the plan.
This is based upon what? There were callers into the station from day one on every show. :?

Based upon their vision for the station at the beginning.

We can just disagree here Zippy. If that's not OK I'll tell you that you are right, and I am wrong. Please let me know. I'm happy to do either one for you, Or Frank for that matter, in keeping with the upcoming Christmas Season.
I thought I asked a rather simple question. I was prepared for a vague reference to some inside knowledge that I was unaware of (ala Terry's peeps). Based upon your rather childish response I can only assume you were just making things up. Merry Christmas.

Seth Mason and Dan McNeil were anything but "vague" references.

Ask Mac any questions you may have about what I posted. I think he posts here.

I understand it is hard to equate Mike North and a legacy. Mike was the first guy who pushed the envelope. He did it without journalistic integrity or what his future held for him.

The guy had nothing to lose and he went for it. Without trying to be mean here, the guy was pretty much a loser in life and took his shot and got it.

He didnt go to school to broadcast, serve and internship or put years of work into something as 99% of the people in the industry have. Thus , once again, nothing to lose. He goes back to serving hot dogs if it doesn't work.

He had a plan to do something new and it caught on for awhile. As anything new and interesting goes, it is usally dead by the time some MEGA CORPORATE DB hears about it and thinks it is cool. North was that item.

North was good for about 5 years, got his power and has been terrible since.

Like him or not, and I choose to avoid Mike, he changed the model that Shaer, McNeil and Mason had in mind when the Score started. Mike became the everyman to many blue collar listeners that make up the station's original base. North's interview and calling out of Isiah Thomas put the station on the map.

North's love of attention and his Ditkaesque way of attaching his name to any product that will pay him, also helped build the Score brand, along with his own. His interview of Mike McCaskey though poor in style, endeared him to many for the way he mocked him, and went after him.

Anyone have audio or transcripts of these interviews?

Or can someone break them down.

I didnt listen to sports radio when I was 11
