The worst guy I have seen was the young lad who left channel 5 and got a job on EXTRA and kissed some showbiz ass. I forget his name. He knew nothing and stumbled constantly.
Right now,I like Ryan Baker on channel 2. He seems polished and knows his stuff.

There are two guys I don't see on Chet Coppock's list among the worst, and he always mentioned them on his old show...One of them was Howard Sudberry, who had been a fixture for some 2 decades at CBS2 on the weekends before Megan Mawicke took over those duties. The other was a big beefy guy named Sid Garcia, who used to do sports in the mid '80s at WGN, long before Channel 9 became part of the defunct WB & struggling CW Television Network.

I remember Sid Garcia. I think Swirsky use to pinch hit every now and then for him back then.

wow blast from the past chuck swirsky. I think Bruce Wolf made him more famous w/ that impression he use to do of Chuck.

Going back to that 'BEST LIST' where he has North #6, I can see that. But maybe not North, but really the Score when it came out.

How ironic that Chet put McNeil and North as 2 of the best chicago sportscasters when he was the one saying the Score wouldn't last 2 months when it first came out. Chet was really not getting the hunger in the fandom for a sports talk radio station back in the early 90s that catered to the fans. The 'I AM GOD SPORTSCASTER SINCE I'M ON THE RADIO' thing never worked really that well in Chicago back then. Coppock and those WGN shows with Hub who would always hang up on callers and act like pompous asses was on it's way out. And what the Score brought in with guys like North, McNeil, and others, all catered to the FAN, was on it's way in. If Coppock was such a genius, he should have seen this coming on the sports radio horizon. instead, the Score Tsunami just swept shows like Coppock's away in a single swoop.

I'll start with Jim Blaney. Jim splits his time between the Bulls/Sox Academy in Lisle and calling play-by-play on MeTV's exclusive coverage of High School Football & Basketball with Kenny McReynolds. Jim & Kenny have the call of Simeon/Whitney Young on Channel 23 next Saturday @ 7:30p. At last check, Amy Stone left NBC5 to take on a similar job at WNBC in New York. I'm not sure she's still there. As for Chuck Garfien, he's still at Comcast SportsNet. Unfortunately, I wish I knew what Julie Judelson, Pat Benkowski, Bob Irzik and Verge Jock are up to...I remember when I had cable, Bob used to host "Sports Page" from time to time on CLTV, and always had Outdoors guru Chauncey on Thursday night...That was some 15 years ago.

Reading is a skill. Coppock must know he's finished to post his Nixonian enemies list.

Julie Judelson's dad is a partner of Reinsdorf's and from his bio in the Bulls media guide, I see Julie is now 42 and married to a guy named Gene Diaz, but that's all I know.

The link is now dead, and a search of his blog only reveals his "Best of..." list. What are his beefs with these guys (most pretty recent arrivals, it seems). Tomasulo's addition has to be related to the embarrassing on-air spat he had with Coppock on WGN Morning News last fall, I think.

Tomasulo had an issue with Coppock after the book was out. Coppock was actually on WGN Morning News promoting it...which I'm not sure was wise on either side.
