I watched the entire first season, but I don't have showtime so I haven't seen the 2nd season yet. It's a good one.

This is one of my favorite shows on television. Apparently the show is based on a series of books too if you want to skip ahead. I loved season 1 but this season is surprisingly better. Dexter's sponsor is hot as hell too and has an incredible set on her.

Started watching it the past few weeks and really like it.

The 10 second catch-up for anyone that hasn't watched it. Dexter gets adopted at age 3 by a cop. Cop figures out his son likes to kill things. Cop teaches him how to not get caught and to focus his 'dark passenger' towards people that really don't deserve to be alive anyway. Lot more to it, but that's the start.

Season 4 starts in a couple weeks. (27th, I think)

Season 4 finale was last night. I thought it was a really good episode, and that the ending was great. However, I think the ending would work a lot better as movie ending or part of a series finale. I'm worried about how it will lead into next season because of the questions it leaves and how plausible it is that everything could be "swept under the rug".

Maybe the last scene was a dream.

Rewatched the last scenes, no foreshadowing that I saw from Trin.

Just saw the last episode. This brings us sort of in sync with the books. To wit, in the books, Cody and Astrid have their own little passengers, and Dexter becomes their teacher/guide like Harry was. Of course, in the book, Rita discovers she pregnant on the last page.

So let's see: in the book, the older kids get warped by watching the ex beat up Rita. In the show, we seem to have "watching your Mom die in a pool of blood" as the triggering event. Which, not being a shrink or anything, sounds far more traumatic than being at Disney (with a heretofore unseen GP) and coming back to cops crawling everywhere.

Also, in the books, Deb knows who Dexter is after the first book, and keeps asking him for "special insight" every time a psycho murder goes down. I'm not too fond of that as it weakens her character.

I still get a chuckle at police HQ being a motel. The real Miami PD for some reason doesn't want to cooperate with the producers. All of our forensics guys are mass murderers, but not as a sanctioned activity!

So that's what I see: Dexter, juggling one-to-three Junior Woodchucks, who keep ordering scalpel starter kits & reams of sheet plastic from Amazon.com...

I pray it wasn't wasn't a dream. That would be dumb.

I think the two older kids will be living with the grandparents (off the show). Seems easier for Dexter to do what he does with just the baby. Of course, if they do follow the books, things would be different. But not a lot has followed the books to this point.

I'm interested in how they explain all the loose ends. Maybe it's as simple as 8 months have passed and they sound the "all clear", let's move on with the next season. It is a TV show, not reality. If they start season 5 right where 4 ended, I think it's tough to clean things up.

It has to be a dream. Rita doesn't fit the profile for the Trinity killer. The girl who gets killed in the tub is always a single woman. The jumper is the mother of two, not three.

But Trinity knows who Dexter is. So that's worth breaking the pattern. Plus he knows the cops know his pattern, now. Oddly, he can only find the sister's apartment; presumably he found a better search engine later that day...

Ah well, Rita was getting extremely irritating & useless. They were just using her to pile on stress. "Let's go on a honeymoon!" -- uh, huh...

She wasn't just one of his "Trinity killings". He knew that she was Dexter's wife, and that's why he killed her. It was kind of a "Fuck you" to Dexter.

To the "It was a dream" guys...
You should have watched the interview after Dexter. It's not a dream.
By the way, allow me to say, I fucking hate the "it was all just a dream" ending. There couldn't possibly be a more lazy, ininspired, and miserable way to cheat your viewers or readers. That sucks.

Very happy they killed off Rita, that should really spice things up next year.

But, the editing in the final episode didn't make any sense. How did Dexter get to Trin's car and remove the oil cap and then happen to be hanging out on the side of the road at the exact spot the car died????? In one scene we see Dexter figure out that the car is in the shop, and in the very next scene Trin is picking up the car and driving away. So how did Dexter find him AND sabatogue the car?? makes no sense at all.

Some might say that they must've skipped the scene where Dexter staked out the car shop, but that explanation only opens up more holes. If he was staking out the shop how did he sabatogue the car and it still doesn't explan how he ended up on the side of the deserted road right where the car stalled. And even more troubling, if he was following him the whole time he would've seen him go to kill Rita.

And when did Trin have a chance to kill Rita? We don't even know how he found out where Dexter lived.

A great season, and great ending, but some really rushed unexplainable storytelling in the last 20 minutes.

The bit where Trinity's family is being taken away, with Harry as the cop, and they blur/transform into Rita and the kids was a waste of time. Especially as Dexter engages in arguing with Harry. But the one thing they've been doing this whole season is adding new things for Dexter to juggle while taking you to the cliffhanger. And it gets stupider and stupider. Mind you: the scene with the Mustang and Dexter's crashing of the MommyMobile earlier is obviously the same stretch of road, and probably filmed at the same time.

Just watched the final episode last night .... some questions:

> Did Trinity lure Rita into the bathtub like he did the other victims or did he kill her while she suddenly decided to take a bath?

> How the hell did Dexter get into the casket in the DETACHED garage in about 0.4 seconds when the police where raiding Trinity's house? And at some point, doesn't Mrs Trinity give up "Kyle Butler" to the police?

> How long was Harrison sitting in the bathroom quietly, about 7 hours? And he's what -- 8 months old - very different from the 5 year old Dexter pulled out of the shipping crate. The kid will have zero memories of the incident.

> Is there a worse storyline than the Laguertra/Batista affair? Does anyone care?

I think the good news is that in the post-show interview with Michael Hall and Jon Lithgow, they both said that, essentially, that this wasn't a dream sequence. I agree - hate the dream sequence. Cheap writers trick.

Just disappointed that we didn't get a great nude scene of Rita before her untimely demise.

Useless fact that I did not know: Dexter and Debra Morgan in real life are Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hall.

You'd think the least they can do is give us a crime scene photo with one boob exposed!

Completely agree on the Laguertra/Batista crap...who gives a fuck!

And you're way behind on the Morgans being married, that's old news. But, I can't really make fun of you because up until 4 or 5 months ago I thought Miley Cyrus and Hannah Montana were two different people.

To me, the actress that plays Debra Morgan (Jennifer Carpenter), may be one of the un-sexiest women on television.

And while like most Dexter fans, I found Rita annoying - Julie Benz is smoking hot.

shakes, he found the receipt for the body work to the car.
Got to the shop and popped the cap, hid in the car
when it broke down, he got out of the car where he was hiding and attacked.

No. That happened early in the day, Rita left at dawn, got to the airport or whatever and found she didn't have her ID. Trinity got her early, before Dex found the receipt later and got in the car. that was clearly much later.
